PREVIEW
"You caused this, all of this! Is this what you wanted?"
"No calm down, please! Before you hurt yourself."
"The last thing you need to worry about is me hurting myself! If anything you should be worried about me hurting you!"
"You don't mean that please put it down."
"I asked for one thing, just one thing and you couldn't deliver. What am I supposed to do now forgive?"
"Just hear me out."
"No, I'm tired of listening it's your time to listen."
"Is all of this really called for?"
In an instant as if there were no witnesses around she threw the vase in my direction. I ducked blocking the outcome of a heavy pound Chinese antique connecting with my face. That only made her blood boil more as she grabbed another glass object aiming it towards my temple. How much longer could this go on before she regained sanity? I could have left making an exit for the door but that would have hurt her more. She was hurting relentlessly right now but I couldn't get her to talk to me. My words were going in one ear and out the other adding more fuel to the fire, but I wouldn't give up. I moved closer to her trying to grab her shaking hands. She grabbed a bat within reaching distance swinging it out in front of me. My hands shot up as I stepped back from the hazardous weapon in her hands. At this point, my patience had evaporated.
"Put it down!" My voice blared throughout the room, but she didn't move an inch.
"Oh no, I'm so scared." She dramatically clutched her chest before swinging the bat dead into the center of a glass table.
I moved out of the way covering up my face while pieces of glass flew up into the air. She had lost it and her rage war was just beginning. I backed up into a corner closing my eyes scared to move. For the first time ever in my life, I was in total fear of a woman. Before I knew it she was banging the bat against walls, furniture, and even the television set. She was blowing off some pent up steam and when she was finished the destructive object made it's way onto the floor as she panted heavily catching her breath. There were no tears in her eyes or no display of sadness, only anger. Her back touched the wall as she sank further onto the floor balling up into a corner sobbing. The waterworks began.
I walked over to where she was sitting down beside her pulling her body into my embrace no matter how hard she fought me off. When she finally gave up I held her tighter kissing her forehead repeatedly.
"Please talk to me." I cried.
"There is nothing to talk about." Her muffled voice spoke out.
"But-"
"Just go!" She pushed my body off of hers pointing at the front door.
I had finally given up, maybe this was for the best.
Her soft cries lingered on my mind the rest of that day.
