Chapter 12

Ally's Perspective

"If you want to fly, give up everything that weighs you down."-Unknown

I flipped back and forth scanning through the stack of mail in my hands. Once reading the content displayed in each of the envelopes there was no space left in my head to even think. Why did my mother always receive so much mail? It's a chore just to even go by the post office for her. She didn't trust mail being sent to her address, which was beyond me but at this point, I was tired of taking time out of my day every week just to pick up her mail.

Andre sat next to me on the passenger side of my car as I handed him the multiple envelopes to throw inside my armrest. I started the engine preparing to head back on the road.

"I don't understand why she needs me to come to pick up her mail, trust me after next week she is changing her address information this stuff needs to be sent to her mailbox."

Andre shrugged, "maybe she's trying to find a way back in. A way for the both of you to finally be close."

"Yeah well, she needs to just say that. I can't keep wasting gas on small stuff like this. That is why you're coming with me today so when I tell her I'm not picking up her mail anymore she can't make me because you're there too."

Andre just shook his head looking out of the passenger window.

"Can we go damn it's hot as hell in yo car girl. You talkin' bout wasting damn gas but we just sittin' in the parking lot while your car is running."

"Yes we can, calm your tits."

When we parked outside of my mom's place there was a car parked out front that did not belong to my mother's boyfriend.

Andre and I looked towards each other in confusion stepping out of my vehicle. I put the envelopes inside of my brown shoulder purse crossing my arms. I didn't put too many things past my mother, but for her to be cheating would be absurd.

I knocked on the front door as Andre stood casually tapping his feet behind me. When my mother opened the door she looked surprised. Before she could invite me in I walked inside leaving Andre behind. I didn't care about her personal business all that much, but I needed to get my message across about her mail and leave.

"Alison I didn't expect you to pull up so early usually you drop off my mail in the afternoon and you brought your brother too?" My mother asked giving Andre a kiss on the cheek leaving behind some red lipstick.

"Yeah, I have work in a few hours momma. I just came by to tell you whether you like it or not I will not be delivering your mail anymore after today."

I expected her to try and reason with me or put up some sort of argument but she looked as if she could care less.

"Oh that's alright Alison, Christopher will be handling all of my business now. Since I get paid enough to support more than just myself now I hired a personal assistant." She glanced at the man behind me standing off to the side of us with his hands behind his back.

"Alison and Andre this is Christopher, Christopher these are my two children." She introduced us to the man. He waved seeming totally aloof to the conversation.
