but instead of eating the whole time, it seemed ms.lee had other intentions."so." she began. "kat. jisung." ms.lee spoke, easily grabbing the attention of my sister and i.
"there is something i want to discuss. "
------------------------------------------
we both looked at each other and then at ms.lee. she allowed us a moment to finish up our food and sit comfortably before speaking again.
i couldn't tell if minho knew what was going on but i think he possibly did, although his expression remained calm. as he took another bite of food before waiting as kat and i were.
" listen. you know we love you guys as family right? i mean ever since your parents started having trouble can you remember the last time you saw your parents?" ms.lee began.
we hadn't seen our mother in many years. since i was 3 or 4. our father stuck around until kat and i were in middle school and then he picked up a traveling job for his company. he'd been away for months and before that he only popped in to give us some extra cash for food.
we were able to keep the house because of our father paying from a far but it doesn't necessarily mean it was enjoyable.
we were responsible with the house though. kept it clean and cooked good meals . never a trash pit from secret parties that were never thrown.
and i know you're wondering how we managed to get to doctors appointments and get things signed. well... that's where ms.lee comes in.
the best single mom on the planet award goes to her. she's so strong and loving for her son and his friends. minho was a mommas boy as a kid and it showed a bit as he grew up too.
"it's been a while... why? are they back? or... at least our dad?" kat asked.
"no... i'm afraid not. but- that's just my concern. i don't want you guys to have to waste money on paying for a house just to live alone. you don't see how risky that is for robbery and kidnapping? i don't want you guys vulnerable to that anymore...." ms.lee told us.
she was right. what would happen if we did get robbed or anything criminal were to occur? we'd be so vulnerable as two teenagers with no self - defense knowledge. honestly we would probably just hide.
ms.lee continued. "you guys are coming here. that's not an offer, it's an order. you guys mean too much to this family to kee in an unhealthy environment any longer. no excuses. ill sort out the legal part of it but you guys can go pack boxes and bring bedding as slowly as you need until there is an official date in which the house is gone. " she explained .
the look on kat's face was something i'd remember. she looked like an arrow struck her heart as her eyes watered a bit. "r-really...? we're- we're gonna be a family...?" she cried softly, attempting to plaster a smile on her lips.
ms.lee nodded to my sister. "yes. i have a spare room for you to stay in. " she turned to me next. "and jisung i assume you and minho would be alright in one room? if not i'll sort it out for you-"
"no. it's alright. ill be ok with minho. but - are you sure? i mean... i always saw you as family but . i just never imagined it'd be this soon." i asked with wide eyes.
"i told her to wait til we sorted ourselves out, ji. then we'd have you right in with open arms." minho added, leaning his head on my shoulder. i rested my head on top of his. "that's all. so no won't be an acceptable answer. we can spend every day and night together ji. think about how great that would be."
i blushed at the thought . spending nights with minho in his arms. all warm and cozy with endless forehead kisses and snuggles at night. that was a dream...
"then yes. we'd be glad to come and stay here. thank you so so much, you guys." i explained as a final statement.
as much as i'd feel like a burden, i knew this is where we were meant to be. as one. together. and i mean if minho and i ever break up i think we'd still be fined . but i don't see us leaving each other any time soon.
minho leaned up and gave a peck to my cheek before grabbing his glass and giving a toast.
"id like to raise a toast. to family. our family." he proclaimed, lifting his cup to the air. we all clinked the glasses and smiled before taking a sip.
kat was definitely overwhelmed with smiles and happiness. ms.lee took her quickly into her embrace with a hug.
"hey." minho whispered to grab my attention. "im excited to have you stay. i love you." he explained, a soft kiss finding me as the sentence ended.
"i love you, too." i said leaning in for another . and one more. luckily we caught ourselves before anyone else noticed. it made my chest sting a bit.
"oh. i forgot . we got invited to emma's tonight for a double date, if you wanna go?" i asked minho, holding both his hands in mine as we stood to place our dishes in the sink.
"sounds good. ill let chris know we're coming?" minho offered. i nodded. would chris even be there though ? i mean it was his house .
minho and i headed upstairs and i quickly put my stuff together before sitting on the end of minhos bed. a thought struck my mind though.
"oh! minho i left your hoodie at my house this morning.... im so sorry, min." i said shyly, wondering if he'd be mad or not.
"don't be silly, babe. keep it." he walked over to me and placed a hand softly on my cheek and a kiss to my scalp.
"now come on before we're late. " minho said taking my hand and slowly standing me up. and so we headed downstairs, out the door, and to emma's for the night.
