Season 2 | Chapter 13

Y/n POV

My eyes lazily opened. My vision and hearing were fine, but nothing seemed to register. I laid still for a moment to allow myself to take in my senses. A consistent, faint beeping came from outside the room. Whatever room was connected closest to where my head lay.

My eyesight cleared, allowing me to better take in my surroundings. Where... where am I? I found the strength to weakly sit up. At the same time, a sharp pain shot through my head.

I held my head and winced as the pain ran its course. While it did, my vision blurred once more and hearing muffled and ringing. After what felt like forever, it subsided and I looked around the room again. It was a hospital room. Judging by the signs on the wall, a hospital in Korea. I'm back in Korea? When did... Before my thought could finish, I noticed Lisa sleeping in a chair, head laying on the side of my bed.

A sensation that I never really fully understood washed over me. I'm... cold?

Shivering, I carefully got up from my bed and made my way to the bathroom to wash my face. Why am I still cold... I should have warmed up by now... I looked in the mirror and everything that happened in Hawaii came crashing back into my head like a heavy wave. Dammit... I can't believe it got the best of me. I killed so many. ..

I look back up to the mirror, my eyes meeting my own in the mirror. Confusion flooded my mind as I stared at my reflection. A reflection that lacked the scars of an advanced Sole.

The crosses. I took my contacts out when I changed. Did Lisa put them in for me so I wouldn't get caught? I raised my fingers to remove the contacts from my eyes but they found nothing. I saw my pupils shrink as a destructive fact settled in my mind.

What happened... to my Sole...

I tried to create a small flame, but nothing happened.

No... if I don't have my Sole... I can't right my wrongs. Come on!

I tried harder to make a flame, but still nothing. It finally settled. My Sole was gone.

I tripped back in a panic, hyperventilating as I banged against the wall. Lisa must have been woken up by my fall because she came running in and kneeling down beside me.

"Babe, what's wrong? It's okay. I'm here." She said softly.

"My eyes..." I said as I looked up to her.

"What's wrong? Are your contacts burning?" She ran through other potential issues.

"I'm not wearing my contacts..."

You could see the words click together in her head.

She looked into my eyes as hers began tearing up. "Oh my God. I'm so sorry... How did it happen? Was it because you descended?"

"I don't think so, descending didn't feel much different than ascending. Other than that feeling of selflessness... I felt intense hatred." I explained. "My body couldn't handle it, so I collapsed immediately after it went away. I tried to ignore it, but I felt it crawling inside me before it took over... It was like I was a prisoner in my own body."
