-Lucid Moon-

Narrator POV

"Any idea what it says?" A man dressed comfortably for the humid air spoke with a tone of mystery.

"I can only pick out a few words, and even then I'm not too sure." The other man said as they looked over the stone slab that was just uncovered. "The language is so old, but somehow it's the same language that's on the scrolls we have in the lab. Has the Philologist figured out what language it is or at least finished looking it over?"

"I haven't heard anything back from them." The man responded.

"That's what I figured. The only reason we figured out the few words I know is because of cross-referencing and they're probably not even correct. We're not sure." The man continued.

"Sir, look right here." The other man pointed on the slab.

"The cross..." The man seemingly at a higher rank's face dropped. "The very same cross in the eyes of..."

His voice drifted and the air in the small tent grew thick and heavy.

Y/n POV

It's been two weeks since me and Jooheon got back from Hawaii. I'm thankful for that two-week vacation they give us after the King of Sole tournament before coming back to school. The long vacation after the tournament is for safety. You never know what could happen if one of the fighters goes insane, attacking businesses and schools. So having a couple weeks for everything to calm down makes sense. At least the walk home today is nice. It's not too hot or cold. Fitting, considering this is the first day back and it was also calm. The relaxation is just starting though since the school trip is next week.

That's going to be so nice. The Niseko Resort is gonna be so nice. With all the snow and scenery, I'm gonna relax so hard. I need it with how sore I still am from the tournament. Thankfully when Lisa came over she didn't see my bruises...

"Ayo!" Jooheon's voice came from my left. "Feeling any better?"

"Still sore as all hell," I answered with a laugh. "Hellfire really gave it to me. My stomach and sides are still bruised. I think the medics fixed my ribs nicely, they don't really hurt but the bruises are killing me. I can't even explain how hard it is to pretend I'm not dying."

"Right, I forget you can't really let yourself wince like I can." He reasoned.

"If they ask, I'll just say I fell down some steps or something," I said as I felt my face contort as a pain shot through my body, starting from my stomach. "It hurts to breathe... It hurts to exist..."

"I can only imagine... He didn't hold back at all on you like he did the rest of us." Jooheon said with an apologetic expression. "But hey, you gotta let go and go all out. That must have pretty damn good."

"It was nice to let loose and really go at it," I said with a chuckle that quickly faded. "But I learned just how strong I am... and it scares me. What if I hurt someone who doesn't deserve it?"

"Y/n. You would never hurt anyone. I grew up with you and if I learned anything you wouldn't hurt a fly if you could help it. The very thought of everyone getting hurt at the tournament drove you so hard that you ascended to protect everyone, and you're barely just now getting strength back. You were wiped after everything we did in Hawaii." Jooheon reasoned to me. "You could have died for all you knew with how much energy that took. You didn't care as long as everyone there was safe."
