Season 3 | Chapter 9

-Minjoon's Mission-

Minjoon POV

The air outside was both nice and clean. It had to of been a record low for fine dust. It was perfect for the walk that I had found myself on as I made my way to find something to eat. What that something to eat was, I had no idea. If I did, I would have just ordered and had it delivered. It was one of those moments that I just couldn't decide, not to mention a walk sounded so nice right now. So, I made the decision to go for a walk and see what smells got me, or where I ended up. Not too far into my walk, I made another decision. One that's not too much of a surprise coming from me. The open markets with food stands.

These stands have been my weakness for as long as I can remember. Ever since I have been relieved from Lucifer's control, I've been back at these stands way too much. The food here is so good, and fairly priced at that.

I took a deep breath of the air as the breeze helped push the smell of the market into my nostrils. My peace was then interrupted by a familiar voice. Not speaking directly to me, but one getting into a vehicle. I only manage to catch a glance at the person who dipped their head to get in, but I had suspicions on who it was. And if it was this person, I knew that my lunch had to wait. I watched the vehicle pull out and the direction they turned convinced me even further. I followed.

"Bingo," I whisper to myself while I carefully look down over the side of the building I perched myself on.

The target of my spying was two members of Lucifer's gang. But not just any members, it was two members that never do any work in the public like Hellfire, Rhino, or Tenzen. Even though Hellfire isn't far under their rank, he was more of a public face and threat to those that may have anything to say about Lucifer. A lot of people say that Hellfire is Lucifer's right-hand man. Those very people could not be any more wrong if they tried. These two were far more terrifying. Duke and Kane. They were kept out of the public eye for one simple reason. Lucifer preferred that ones who would follow an order without question, whether it was to move a couch or slaughter an elementary school a secret so that they wouldn't be seen coming.

Duke was once a violent gang boss that held a high status. When I say high, I mean it. That could even be argued to be an understatement. He had connections to major entertainment companies and would often demand, and receive, the women that worked there. Even before he awoke to his ARU Sole, police wouldn't touch him. Not just because he had the police in his pocket, but because the last time they tried he mailed the heads of the entire squad they sent back to them with a note inviting them to try their luck again. It doesn't help that his newfound abilities are the strongest wind abilities currently known. The unprecedented control he has over his Sole is dangerous.

Duke's appearance also bred fear. He was tall, built, and had a face of stone-cold violence. His eyes alone were enough to manifest the most primal of fear. He dressed nicely like the mob boss he was and often smoked expensive cigars. His fingers were decorated with rings that cost enough to buy a home each. Slicked back and bleached hair, with one small strand hanging down in his face. His appearance meant nothing less than what he was after, he was going to get. It was that simple.

Kane was a little different from Duke. And by a little, I mean a lot. He was busted out of an insanely high-risk prison and was the reason the prison was built in the first place. I keep saying prison, but it was one small cube built out of the crystal that sapped the ability of Sole users and surrounded by an extremely large man-made moat that could only be crossed by a draw bridge. That wasn't the only precaution they took with him, though. He was placed in a straight jacket that was lined with those same crystals that made him look like a bedazzled psychopath. Don't confuse Kane with a typical psycho murderer that only craved blood, like Pulse, for example. He was calm and collected, not insane. He knew what he was doing and believed it to be proper. But he became dangerous. At least that's what the rich, powerful, and twisted people that he targeted thought.
