Season 3 | Chapter 1

-First day back-

Narrator POV

The lab where scientists were studying a mysterious stone tablet, so it could be deciphered, now lay in ruin. The ground glistened in ripples as the sprinklers dripped in rhythm. The liquid on the ground was clear, aside from the small sections that were bloody crimson. Bodies of what were once workers strewn about lifeless. The buzzing of alarms pierced the still air, accompanied by bright, flashing lights.

"Better shut that damn alarm off. It's gonna annoy the boss." A gruff, deep voice came from what could only be described as a mountain of a man.

"Yes, yes. I will deal with it." The monk accompanying him waved his hand in dismissal as he walked to a terrified man curled up on the ground. "Speak! How do we stop this incessant alarm?"

The man weakly picked up his trembling hand. His shaking finger guided the eyes of the two in the direction next to where Rhino stood. The mountainous man pointed to confirm that the man meant the computer next to him. The man confirmed with a shaky nod. With a short lift of Rhino's hand, the ground under it shot up, obliterating the computer and stopping the blaring alarm. The only sound left filling the room was the dripping of the sprinklers.

"Do we kill him now, Tenzen?" Rhino asked, now standing next to the monk.

"No." He said shortly. "Lucifer will want to question him."

"So, that's it?"

"Seems as though it is. We were only ordered to find the tablet by any means necessary. We found it."

Not a moment later, the sound of shoes clicking against the ground echoed through the building. Rhino and Tenzen immediately upon hearing it, turned, knelt, and face pointed to the ground. Each click got louder and louder as the oppressive energy filled the room. With each step, the hearts and nerves of the two minions in the room became more and more erratic.

The clicking stopped, and the two swallowed harshly with a gulp. The sharply dressed man they waited for stood before them.

"Speak," came the man's cold demand.

"The tablet you seek resides on the lab table. We allowed one to live for you to question as your request, sir." Tenzen reported.

"Guard the door. Anyone gets past and you both die." Lucifer's cold order sent the two immediately to the door.

Lucifer leisurely walked to the stone tablet and picked it up, then to the man that was just barely alive. The man groveled on the ground for any sympathy he could possibly get.

"Have you translated this?" Lucifer held up the tablet.

Lucifer's cold and harsh voice startled the man to his back, shaking his head vigorously. He flattened himself against the wall to get as far away from Lucifer as he could. "No... No one was able to. We made out maybe t-two words at most, but they kept changing...

The sound of the man pushing against the wall stopped, and all that could be heard was the heavy breathing he heaved from his fear. A small smirk so cold that it sucked the life out of the air in the room crept across Lucifer's lips. The man's heavy breathing stopped with a gulp.
