A little over a century later...

"It is our only hope to end this senseless war!" The King shouted.

"But this is our daughter we are talking about!" The queen retorted back.

"Their offer seems fair—"

"Marrying our one and only daughter off to the son of the fiends who started this war in the first place? Open your eyes my love! This is a trap!"

"What if they realized the error of their ways? Plus, it seems fair and simple: when Speranza is of age, she will marry Leoh, symbolizing peace between us humans and the vampires. Then the two halves of the Black Pearl will be joined together and they will allow us to wish for unity between our two peoples."

"Do you really think they are being truthful? How can you be so dense?!"

"I am not dense, only hopeful. If we accept this offer, the warring will cease, and everyone will live together in harmony."

"But—"

"Wouldn't you want our daughter to live in a world without hate and violence at every turn?"

The queen stared at her husband for a long moment. He was so adamant about this, maybe he knows what he is talking about? Finally, she let out a long sigh and reluctantly said, "alright, fine. Let's tell them our decision."

The pair walked through the door to the room where the vampire king and queen and prince had been waiting.

"Have you two decided?" the vampire king asked.

"Yes... and we accept the offer," the other king spoke.

"Splendid! We are so happy to come to a consensus!" the vampire queen exclaimed. "We'll be on our way now, so, farewell! Or I should say, see you soon~"

The three vampires sauntered out of the castle and sat in their carriage. When they were sure that they were far enough:

"So, what is the real plan, mother?" Leoh asked, snickering as he turned to his mother.

"I thought you'd never ask~ On the wedding day, we kill the king, queen, and their little brat. That way, no one will be standing in our way of the pure half of the Black Pearl. Then, we use the whole Pearl to wish for power over the humans, and Doradovania will be ours!" she explained, triumph in her voice.

"Hehe, those pathetic humans will never know what hit them~"

"Where is my mommy and daddy?! Where are they?" the young girl cried to the guards.

"Your mother and father are fine, princess," the servant replied, walking into her room. "I can take care of her from here," he said to the guards, and with that, they left.

"Who are you?" she asked the mysterious young man.

"I was sent to watch you while your parents discuss very important affairs today," he replied.

The girl pouted. Her parents always seemed to be so busy with these "important affairs" that they hardly ever had time for her. And in a time of war, every one was on high alert, so she wasn't allowed to go out and make friends with the other children in the kingdom either.

The servant saw her saddened state and comforted her. He sat next to her in her window and caressed her curly hair, saying, "there, there my dear. It will be okay, they'll be done soon."

"But that's not it," she sniffled, "I'm always on my own, all I want is someone to play with!" Then an idea popped into her head. "Oh I know! Will you be my friend, mister?"

He couldn't help but smile at her innocence. He knew how it felt to be lonely, so he chuckled and replied, "haha, of course, princess. I'll pleased to be your friend."

"Yay!! Thank you mister! Oh, and what's your name by the way?"

"My name is..."
