{Y/N POV}

The next day, we found out that Sehun would be suspended for a while, and the time that followed after that, it seemed as though we could finally breathe easier. No more confrontations, no more bullying, nothing. Just peace. I even stopped having those weird dreams.

Because I'd finally gotten my cast off, I'm allowed to cheer at games again! Today, me and Jongin had just gotten home from one of Lucas' basketball games, and began our usual post-game routine— plopping down on my bed and taking a nice, loooooong nap. Some may call it laziness, I say it's just recharging after a game.

"AHHHH!!"

We're suddenly woken up from our sleep by Eomma's loud shriek from the floor beneath. Without question, we bolt down the stairs. When we reach the living room, we look around frantically, so far not seeing any sight of her.

"Eomma...?" I call out. "Are you okay??"

Then, we hear faint crying coming from the kitchen. Me and Jongin glance at each other with nervousness.

"Wh-what do you think happened?" he asks.

"I don't know..." I respond.

Mustering up our courage, we walk in. She's hugging a large man and crying softly into his chest. Getting over my initial confusion, I'm able to recognize him, and tears start to form in my own eyes.

"Papà?"

He turns to face me and sure enough, it's him. "Oh... my Y/N..." he whispers, and his large arms are wrapped around me and he's kissing my forehead and cheeks. Then, he steps back, brown eyes gazing at me and his enormous hands cupping my cheeks.

"Mia Bella bina... it's been so long. You've grown and changed so much! You're so beautiful!" he gushes, pulling me to his chest again. He on the other hand, hasn't changed that much, except for the usual changes that come with aging such as a few strands of grey hair in his black waves and mustache.

"Very long. We've missed you so much papà," I mumble into his chest, hugging him even tighter. I then feel another pair of arms wrap around the two of us, followed by eomma's voice saying, "yes, we really have."

"I've missed my girls too", he replies sweetly. We all then break apart from the hug, which allowed him to get a clearer look at me.

"You still have the necklace," he says with a grin, holding it between his large fingers.

"Of course I do, it reminded of you and it's just really special," I say fondly. "But now, you're finally back."

He smiles at my words and his gaze travels a bit past me.

"Who is this?" he asks, a hint of rigidity in his tone. I turn to see Jongin awkwardly standing there, clearly intimidated by my dad's intense stare.

Heh, I forgot he was even there this whole time. That explains why he went into "overprotective dad mode".

I grab Jongin's hand and pull him closer to me, smiling at him reassuringly. "His name is Jongin papà. He's my boyfriend."

I notice papà's eyes widen. "J-Jongin...? Um— nice to meet you!" he chirps, holding out his hand for him to shake.

A small, shy smile spreads across Jongin's lips as he returns the gesture. "Nice to meet you too, signore."

Why does it seem like papà may know him?

The night carried on with all of us catching up with each other and reminiscing on our time back in Venice when it had become super late, like around midnight. Me, Eomma, and Jongin are heading up the stairs when papà puts a hand Jongin's shoulder, stopping him in his tracks.

"Actually Y/N, I'd like for Jongin to stay behind for a minute," then, looking at him, "we were so busy making up lost time earlier, I want to get to know you some more, son."

I look at the two of them quizzically, but Jongin just waves his hand, saying reassuringly, "it's cool, just go ahead, I'll be up there soon."

I nod and walk up the stairs and into the bathroom, freshening up for bed. When step into my room, I'm surprised to not see Jongin in here yet, since I'm sure I was in the bathroom for a preeeeeetty long time.

Yep, 12:31. He should've been in here by now, I think when I glance at the clock. I find myself walking back in the direction of the stairs, careful to keep each step quiet. I make it nearly halfway down when I'm finally able to hear their voices.

"So you know that her necklace is more than just a 'family heirloom', right?" I hear papà ask.

"Yes, I know," I hear Jongin respond. "I regained my old memories of the past life a long time ago."

"Good, so I can get straight to the point. Since those two are still after it, I entrust you with her safety. We don't want it falling into his family's evil hands."

"Of course! It was such a close call that first time with your great grandfather..."

Their voices blend together as I'm caught off guard. My great great grandpa? That's so random, what does he have to do with this? I eagerly lean forward some more, refocusing on the conversation. Just my luck, my sudden movement cause the stair to creak really loudly. Their voices stop and they both appear at the bottom of the stairwell.

"Y/N?! What are you doing, this is a private conversation!" papà exclaims.

(1) "S-spiacente papà, I just—"

"It's fine, just go back to bed, you wouldn't understand," he interjects.

Still, my curiosity takes over. "But I want to know about the necklace. And what does my great great grandpa have to do with this?"

"Again Y/N, it's nothing, just go back upstairs! Plus... we're both older than you, so you have to do what we say~" he says, grinning mischievously. That's his nature, always taking a jovial approach to everything.

Seeing that I wouldn't win, I just shrug and turn around, ready to head back up the steps. But then—

"Well if that's the case signore," Jongin speaks, a similar grin forming on his own face, "I'm older than you, so I also have a say in this."

Heh, papà is totally stumped. "Oh, I... uh..."

Jongin pats his back. "And I say, it's time you tell her about her necklace. Trust me, you shouldn't keep such big things from her."

Papà sighs, finally conceding. "Alright, alright. Sit down Y/N, I guess it's time for you to finally find out why that necklace is so important to our family."

So it turns out that the necklace is yet another thing that connects with those weird dreams I was having, and the book too. It's the "pure half" of the of the "Black Pearl" that the vampire monarchy had been trying to steal from the human monarchy— which me, papà, and this ancestor of mine are descendants of and Sehun is a descendant of the vampire monarchy. His family has that "dark half", which is why he wanted to peruse me. A long time ago, Sehun and some henchman of his tried to steal the pure half from my great great grandfather, but Jongin helped fight them off, and led him to reside in the human world away from danger. Heh, that obviously didn't go as planned... Okay, so I have some more pieces of the puzzle, but one of the things that I'm still wondering about is this "past life" that Jongin mentioned... is he talking about the stuff from that book and in my dreams? And if so, who was he? Who was I? Ahh, so many questions... maybe I'll have more dreams and those could help me?
