{Y/N POV}

"Come on, you can't possibly be serious when you say there's nothing here that you're interested in," I say.

"I am serious, there's just no clubs at this school that grab my attention," Jongin says.

"But me and the boys are in activities! I cheer, Lucas wrestles, plays basketball, runs track and is in student council, Sehun plays football, and Baek and Kyungsoo are choir and theatre kids! You can see that we really like what we do, so why don't you wanna do anything?"

"I told you before Y/N, I just like to keep to myself."

Here we go with that line again. I watch him as he sweeps the floor. "I know it's something deeper than that."

Jongin stops and looks up at me and we stand there silently for a moment. Finally, he sighs and admits, "okay, fine. The real reason why I'm not in clubs and stuff is, heh, well, I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm not exactly well-liked around here."

I knew it. I've heard how people talk about and look at him and it makes me really angry. I remember a couple of times when I've had to put people— even a couple of cheerleaders— in check because of it. He's such a nice boy, so what reason do people have to treat him like this? And also, why does he even care about what those dumb people think anyway?

(1) "그래서? Why does it matter what other people say?" I ask.

"But Y/N, they're really mean peop—"

"And? 'Mean people' will exist all throughout your life. It's inevitable, so why let people constantly get in the way of your fun?"

"...Huh... you're right."

"Exactly, so if you want to go to school events or join clubs or whatever, just don't think about them. Ultimately, you're the only person that's holding you back, Jonginnie."

He slowly nods his head. "Okay... okay, I guess I'll just go to an event and see if I like it. But wait, what events are coming up?"

I grin happily. "I thought you'd never ask~ there's a football game on Saturday at 7. You should come!"

Jongin frowns. "Ah, sorry Y/N. I can't come that night. I have to help Kyungsoo practice his dancing for the upcoming musical."

"Ooh yeah, that's right. He and Rosie are leads. Well don't worry, it's okay! There's always other events you can go to. Maybe your first one could be the musical! But promise me that you'll try to break out of your shell just a little bit, alright?"

He smiles and says, "I promise!"

{3rd Person POV}

"WELCOME LADIES AND GENTLEMEN TO ANOTHER SATURDAY NIGHT EXODUS HIGH FOOTBALL GAME!! TONIGHT THE EXODUS DIAMONDS ARE PLAYING AGAINST THE SPRING DAY WHALES!! STARTING THE KICK-OFF TONIGHT WILL BE NUMBER 94, OH SEHUN!!"

"Alright ladies you know the drill— 'Kick It'," Coach Jennie announces to the cheerleaders.

"We got it coach!" Roseanne— who along with Lisa, is a captain— says, then, making her voice loud enough for the other cheerleaders to hear she shouts, "1, 2!!"

The girls all turn in unison to face the crowd. Y/N scans it, having some hope that Jongin would be in the sea of people. She knows it's silly because he already said that he wouldn't be here, but she still had some hope. Who knows? Maybe Kyungsoo finally got the dance and they finished early? But before she could finish her scavenger hunt...
