{Y/N POV}

As soon as I wake up, I grab my phone from my nightstand. I open up the notes and begin a new one, titled "Dreams".

Now what happened again? Let's see, the main thing was Leoh's execution, and this "new life" was talked about. And then there were some new people, those four guards. They seem like they're gonna be important. Leoh's family did something to them... what did they do again? Ah come on, think, think, think—

"Wow, you're up early."

"Ah—!" I was so focused on what I was typing that the sound of Jongin's voice startles me, making me drop my phone on the floor. I slowly turn around and yep, sure enough, he's propped up looking at me with a suspicious look on his face.

"I was— I was just checking the weather!"

His face turns into a sort of sneaky smile. "Well then, out with it, what's the weather?"

"Uhhh, it's gonna snow! Here, I'll even show you," I say, picking the device back up. Please, please let it be snowy. Sure enough, when I click the forecast, there's a snowflake icon with "WINTER WEATHER ALERT" next to it in big red letters. Phew.

"See? Told ya~ So be careful going to school, Nini," I say, pointing to the screen.

"You're staying home today?" he asks.

"Yea... last night was just a lot to take in," and I'm being completely truthful. I just really need time to organize my thoughts and try to get more answers.

"Oh, I totally get it. It was all just so surreal. I'll explain everything your parents, they'll probably understand, and I'll just tell everyone at school that you're sick."

I can't help but to smile at him. "Thanks for understanding."

"No problem," he says, leaning over and kissing me on the forehead before getting out of bed.

Once he leaves the room, I reach into my dresser and got the book. I read from where I left off, and sure enough, it's everything that happened in my dream last night. Every. Single. Thing. I noticed that whenever the writer was talking about himself or the other guards, he used words like "I" and "we". That's when I remembered the name of the person who wrote this book, and one of the guards from the dream— "Tao".

Maybe there's something in here about what Leoh's family did to them? I flip and flip, page after page and finally find something at the very end of the book that catches my eye— a page that says "About Us" at the very top.

Please, whoever is reading this, please know who we are— or, rather, who we were. My name is Tao, and I have three other brothers. We are what are known as "Exoelles", people born with special abilities. No one knows how this happens, but a common theory that is agreed on is that it is a sort of genetic anomaly. That wicked woman has wiped out most of us because she is threatened by us, fearful that our powers will make us stronger than her kind. I'm not sure how much longer we'll be able to hide and fight them off...

And that's where the writing had gotten smudged, making it unreadable. A lump formed in my throat once I put two and two together and figure out that something must have happened to them. I put the book back in my dresser and cover myself with my thick blanket, hoping that a nice nap can get rid of this heavy feeling.

"So, do you want to know the truth?"

"Huh?" I look around and realize that I'm in that wedding chapel from the dream last night.

"The truth. You know, about you. About us."
