Chapter 26: Annual Ball

"Ako na ang bahala dito sa gummy bear niyo. Just enjoy the night." sinayaw-sayaw pa ni Karen ang natutulog nilang anak.

"Basta Kars, kapag umiyak or hinanap ako please call me. I will go home right away."

"Naku! Hindi iiyak to. Sarap ng tulog o. Promise tawagan kita if ever."

"Thanks Karen." ngumiti si Cole sa bago nilang kaibigan.

"No problem. Itakas mo na yang misis mo bago pa magbago ang isip. Late na, kailangan niyo ng magbihis."

Hinalikan ni Raya ang noo ng natutulog na anak bago nagpahila sa asawa pabalik sa unit nila. Balak sana nilang idaan si Hiro kina tita Lorraine pero nagpresinta si Karen na siya na ang magbabantay dahil naka leave ito. Mas pabor naman sa mag-asawa yun dahil mas madaling kunin mamaya.

They showered and dressed.

"Baby, can you fix this for -" naputol ang dapat sanang sasabihin ni Cole ng makita ang suot ng asawa.

"Pangit ba love?"

"You're beautiful, baby. No..you're ravishing. Parang ayoko na umalis. Dito na lang tayo." lumapit si Cole kay Raya at ipinalibot ang mga braso niya sa bewang nito.

"Nahihiya ka bang isama ako? I can stay."

"No baby. You are just too beautiful that I don't want to share you with anyone tonight."

"Sira! Come here na. I'll fix your tie." Humarap si Cole kay Raya para maayos nito ang necktie niya.

"Parang masyadong mahaba yang slit ng dress mo babe."

"You think so? It's okay love. Konting skin lang naman."

Marami nang tao when they arrived at the party. As they enter the ballroom, invited guests stopped at what they're doing and openly stared at the couple who just entered the room.

Napatingin si Cole sa asawa and gave her a warm smile that she returned with her own. Her entire face lit up as she looked at her husband adoringly. Gone was the shy Raya. Bumalik ang confident na Raya na humaharap sa milyon milyong televiewers gabi-gabi.

"I love you baby." Hindi maiwasang ibulong ni Cole.

Binalik niya ang tingin sa mga bisita and when he saw their appreciative look at his wife, sobra siyang proud dito kagaya kung paano siya ka proud dito habang pinapanood sa TV.

Lumapit si Rob sa mag-asawa para batiin sila.

"Good evening hija. You look stunning tonight."

"Thank you dad."

"Dad, kanina ka pa?"

"Kakadating ko din lang. Come on, let me introduce you to our guests."

Rob ushered them to one of the tables.

"Gentlemen, this is my son Cole Alexander and his wife Raya."

Tumayo ang isang matandang Swedish at inabot ang kamay kay Raya. "I'm Mikhael Johansson."

"You have a beautiful wife here Mr. Trinidad. She must be your lucky charm."

"Definitely sir." Ngumiti ang matanda kay Cole bago binalik ang atensyon kay Raya.

"You have a smart and hardworking husband. I never doubted when I agreed to his proposal for the railroad project."

"Thank you Mr. Johansson. You made a wise choice." She rewarded him with
a warm smile.

Tumayo din ang isa pang may edad na lalaki at inabot ang kamay kay Cole.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Trinidad. I'm Oliver Nilsson. I heard so many great things about you. I'm looking forward to our formal meeting next week." Inabot ni Cole ang kamay ng matanda.
