You and Johnny were walking on the sidewalk together. Both of you just came from the Curtis household. It was really late and the streets were empty. You guys had no plans on going home so you guys decided to stay at the lot.
You were really close with Johnny. You knew him ever since you were three. You were there for him for all his problems. You helped take care of him when he needed it. You were a great friend to him.
But, you felt more for him. You liked Johnny, a lot. You've never had enough courage to tell him though, so you kept it a secret.
The streets looked different at night. You stayed close to Johnny because he knew the streets more than you did.
You guys were silent when walking to the lot.
The only sounds in the streets were your guy's footsteps and chirping bugs.
You reached the lot and sat down. You watch Johnny as he makes a fire to keep both of you warm.
It was a very cold night. You could see your breath in the air. You kept shivering even when the fire was burning bright. You curled up into a ball to keep you warm, but it still didn't work.
Johnny plopped down right next to you. He noticed you were really cold.
"Hey, Y/N." He said.
You hummed in reply. Johnny started to take off his denim jacket.
"Here." He said, putting the jacket over you like a blanket.
It smelled like him. His body heat made the jacket warm. It felt really good.
"Are you sure?" You asked.
"Yeah, I don't need it as much as you do." Johnny said, poking the small fire with a stick.
You smiled.
You both sat there in silence, staring at the crackling fire.
You noticed that Johnny got cold now. You had an idea.
You scooted closer to him, your bodies touching now so that you both can create more heat. Johnny was surprised and you saw his cheeks flush a shade of pink. You took the jacket and covered both of you.
"Thanks." He said.
You nodded.
You looked up at the night sky. It was filled with trillions of tiny stars. It looked stunning .
"Hey, Johnny." You quietly said, not taking your eyes off the sky, "Look."
Johnny looked at the sky.
"Wow!" He awed, "The stars look amazing!"
They really were amazing. In all your days, you've never seen the night sky in Tulsa look so beautiful. It was like it was meant for both of you.
"I've had this thought for a while," You said, "Stars are like people. We are born into the world and we grow as time passes. One day our time will end."
"I've never thought of it like that." Johnny said.
Johnny gazed at you while you were still looking at the stars. He just kept looking at your face and not at the stars. You looked even prettier than the night sky.
"Johnny, look over there! It's shaped like a duck!" You laugh.
Johnny laughed but he still didn't take your eyes off you. You seemed to glow even brighter than the stars.
"Y/N," He said softly.
You turned your head to look at him. Both your eyes met.
Johnny started to turn red. He took a deep breath.
"Y/N," He said again, "I wanted to say-I always thought, erm..."
"What is it, Johnnycake?" You asked, tilting your head.
He took another deep breath, quivering this time.
He took your hands into his and squeezed them.
"I... I wanted to say that... I-I like-love! You...I've loved you for a long time now, not just as friends but...even more."
He had a nervous smile across his face.
Your eyes widened with shock. He liked you, too!
"Well," He said, clearing his throat, "Do you feel the same?"
Without warning, you kissed him. He didn't know what to do at first but then he started to relax. He kissed you back, cupping your face with his warm hands. You rested your hands on his chest.
The kiss was sweet and passionate. His lips were really soft against yours.
You both slowly pulled away.
"Is that an answer for you?" You laughed.
"That was a good answer." He chuckled.
You rested your head on his warm chest. It slowly rose and fell. He embraced you and kissed your head.
You both looked back up at the sky again. Suddenly, a shooting star zipped across the sky.
"A shooting star!" You gasped, "Quick, make a wish, Johnny!"
Johnny smiled and closed his eyes, thinking. He opened his eyes.
"What did you wish for?" You asked him.
Johnny looked straight at you. His eyes looked like they were sparkling.
"I wished for you to be my girl." He replied with a smirk.
"Your wish just came true." You said softly, pulling him in for another kiss.
Your eyes started to feel heavy.
You yawned and nuzzled your face into his chest.
He rubbed your back as you fell asleep with a smile, the stars illuminating the dark sky above you two.
