It was a few minutes before the rumble. Anticipation grew every second.
You were at the Curtis household along with the rest of the gang. Everyone was ready for the rumble. Especially you. You were excited to beat up some Soc butt.
"Y/N," You heard someone say behind you.
You turned around and it was your best friend, Dallas Winston.
"Yeah, Dal?" You asked.
"Maybe it's best if you don't go." Dally said, putting his hand on your shoulder.
"Wait, why?" You asked, "I fought in a rumble before, Dal. I'm gonna be fine, plus it's only skin to skin. I'm good at that."
"I know, but..." Dally said, giving you a worried look.
"I'm going to be fine." You assured him.
"Yeah, Y/N's gonna be fine, Dal." Two-Bit agreed.
Then he smirked and looked straight at Dally.
"You don't want her to get hurt. You like her, don't you Dal."
"No, she's just a friend, man." He denied.
"Yeah, girlfriend." Two-Bit snickered.
Dally punched him in the shoulder. You giggled at them.
"Let's go!" Darry called out from the door.
It was time to go to the rumble.
You guys were getting hyped up while walking to the rumble.
You were doing cartwheels with Pony.
Steve and Darry were doing flips off of anything.
Once you guys reached the place, you greeted the rest of the greasers.
All of a sudden, you heard shouting and cars in the distance. Everyone fell silent, the Socs have arrived.
Socs piled out of their mustangs. There were more this time.
"Be careful, Y/N." Dallas whispered, walking next to you.
The Socs lined up across you guys. You were in a rumble a few times before so you were an experienced fighter. But the Socs knew you could fight so they wouldn't go easy on a girl. Everyone stood their ground and eyed at each other, waiting for whoever's going to strike first.
You heard a thud and a shout. It triggered the fight.
A guy lunged at you. You dodged him and punched him in the stomach, making him fall. You kept beating one guy after another. You were having a great time. Dally was too. He kept glancing at you every once in a while to check if you were okay.
Suddenly, one guy you were fighting pulled out a pocket knife. Your eyes widened. It was supposed to be skin on skin. You panicked because he was targeting you.
"I'm tired of a woman beating me up," He said in a low voice, "Let's get rid of you."
You dodged his first swing but then he got you the second. You gasped as you felt the blade pierce your side. He pulled it out and punched you. You fell to the ground.
You covered your wound with your hand and winced.
You looked down at your shaking hand and saw blood, a lot of it. You couldn't believe what happened. Were you going to die?
You tried to get up but you couldn't move.
You started to get light headed.
You heard cheering. You looked up and saw that the Socs were retreating.
Your vision was starting to get blurry. The world was spinning.
"Someone, help me." You whimpered, weakly.
Johnny saw you on the ground and called the rest of the gang and Dally.
You saw the gang surround you, shouting your name. Then you saw Dally rushing towards you.
Everything turned black.
You woke up in the hospital. You looked around the room. No one was there. You looked out the window and saw that it was morning. You looked at your wound and you saw white bandages. You still couldn't move because of the pain. You started to feel the bruise on your head from where that Soc punched you.
The door started to open. You pretended to go back to sleep.
"She in here?" It was Dally's voice. He sounded worried.
The nurse said that you were sleeping and that you were going to be okay.
You heard him walk next to your bed and sit down on a chair.
He grabbed your hand and squeezed it.
"Stupid, stupid, stupid..." He kept muttering under his breath.
His hand gripped yours tighter.
He took a deep, quivering breath. He was crying.
"I said 'be careful', I said 'stay home'...stupid, look where that got you." He muttered, angrily.
You heard his tears falling on the bed like raindrops.
"That damn Soc!" He shouted, slamming the bed with his fist, "He used a blade, that cheating bastard."
He started to calm down. You were shocked, he never acted like this before. You still pretended to be asleep.
"I thought you died, man. You were bleeding so much. You could've died. I thought I lost you forever. Please don't do that again. I don't want you to leave me. I want to spend my whole life with you, Y/N. I love you."
You couldn't believe the words that spilled out of Dally's mouth. He loved you more than a friend. You smiled and opened your eyes.
"I love you too, Dal. I should've listened to you. I promise, I won't be in another rumble again." You said, softly.
More tears started to stream down his face. You embraced him as he sobbed in your shoulder. You lightly kissed the top of his head.
He thought you died. He thought he was going to lose you forever. That was his biggest fear, losing the people he loves.
All this time. He liked you. He always denied it but now, he let go.
You lifted his chin up with your fingers and kissed him passionately. He cupped your head with his hand and the other held your hand, tightly.
You both pulled away. You always saw his tough side. It was different seeing him break. You smiled and hugged him.
You saw the whole gang come inside.
"Aw, everyone came to see me?" You gushed.
"You alright, Y/N?" Pony asked, sympathetically.
You nodded and smiled.
"Damn, when we saw you on the ground with a stab wound, we thought you were gone. There was blood everywhere." Steve said.
"Are you immortal or something?" Two-Bit joked.
"We're happy you're okay, Y/N!" Johnny said.
You thanked everyone and they all stayed for a little.
Dally stayed with you the entire time.
A few days later, you were free to leave.
Dally drove you to the Curtis house where everyone celebrated your return.
Dally was very relieved that you're okay. You were now his girlfriend and your relationship has been going strong. Ever since that day, you were very careful with your choices.
