The rain pressed on, pouring down on your roof. The wind howled in the air and shook anything that it could move. Night fell in Tulsa as the hours went by.
Your boyfriend, Johnny, was nowhere to be seen.
You tapped your foot while looking at the ticking clock. Johnny said that he would be there for your special dinner, it had been over an hour and he still didn't come. And Johnny was always early to everything.
The delicious food you had made became cold, the fire of the candles died and wax dripped onto the floor.
You started biting your nails while looking out the window, there was only rain.
You decided to go look for him, maybe he was in trouble.
You grabbed a yellow raincoat and slipped on your boots.
You opened the door and the cold air flew into your face, making you hiss and shiver.
You ran out into the streets, calling out for Johnny but your shouts were useless. The rain and wind drowned out your voice.
You kept running, desperate to find him. With each passing minute you couldn't find him, you grew more anxious.
You breathed hard as the rain fell on you, soaking your clothes and hair.
Suddenly, there was a figure stumbling and limping in the dark. You looked closer to see who it was. The figure went under the lamppost, the light shining on him to reveal his identity.
It was Johnny. He was beaten very badly. His face was covered in red, swollen bruises and cuts. Blood seeped down from a cut on his forehead. He limped on one foot while clutching his injured arm.
He saw you and tried to reach out for you. But then he collapsed to the ground.
You gasped at the sight of him. You immediately bolted to him and knelt down.
"Y/N..." He weakly groaned as he tried reaching his hand out to you.
"Johnny!" You cried out, "Oh my-What happened?! I need to get you inside."
You grabbed his hand and started to carry him.
He was heavy but you put every ounce of strength to carry him safely to your home.
You carefully rested him on your couch and ran to go get blankets, towels, bandages, and other supplies.
When you came back, he started to cough up blood. You remained calm and cleaned him up.
You threw two blankets over him but he was still shivering uncontrollably.
You reached out to him but he stopped you.
"No, no," He coughed, "I-I'm fine."
But then he groaned and winced from the pain as he tried to get up. He fell back down on the couch, unable to move.
You started to clean his wounds. You helped him take off all his clothes and you gave him new ones.
"Johnny," You spoke softly, "Who did this to you? Was it your parents?"
You lightly touched his arm and he flinched a little. You wrapped a bandage around it.
Finally Johnny shook his head.
"No..." He said in a raspy voice, "I-I was getting a surprise for you. I got it and started walking to your place. I s-saw a mustang come behind me and hit me. Then th-these Socs jumped me. They beat me up and they took the surprise and broke it. They laughed and left. They broke it. I bought it with the all the money I had...the money I worked so hard for, and they broke it."
Tears started to flow from Johnny's big, puppy eyes.
He didn't care about himself, he cared about the gift he was going to give to you. Johnny always cared about you more than himself.
You couldn't help but cry too.
"Oh, Johnny." You whispered sympathetically as you embraced him.
You kissed him sweetly and rubbed his back.
He held you tightly and buried his face in your shoulder.
He looked up at the food you made on the table.
"Oh, no." He sighed, "I'm so sorry, Y/N. You made all of this good food."
"No, you don't need to apologize." You chuckled slightly, "You're more important than anything in the whole world to me."
You held his ice cold, clammy hand into yours.
Johnny smiled and kissed you.
"So," You giggled into his lips, "What was the surprise?"
His eyes widened a bit.
"O-Oh, uh...erm." He stammered out as he turned a shade of pink.
He dug into the pocket of his jacket and he pulled out a small, broken, black box in his trembling hands.
He opened it and it revealed a broken ring.
Your eyes widened to the size of golf balls. You covered your mouth with your hands and gasped, realizing that he was supposed to propose to you.
He nervously smiled and scratched the back on his head.
"I was going to propose at the dinner." He said as his voice shook out of embarrassment, "That was the surprise."
He looked down at the ring and a frown fell on his face.
"But," He sighed, "It's broken now...maybe I could ask Dal or someone to fix it."
You didn't care about the ring, only him. Tears of joy filled your eyes and fell to the floor.
You squealed like a little kid on Christmas and threw your arms around him.
He hissed at the pain and you quickly pulled away, apologizing.
Instead, you kissed him deeply and he wrapped his arms around your waist.
He pulled away to talk to you.
"So," He chuckled, "Does that mean yes?"
You laughed in reply and kissed him again.
"I love you so much, Johnnycake." You whispered into his ear.
"I love you too, Y/N." He whispered back, "How 'bout we skip dinner and move onto dessert?"
You giggled and smirked at him a bit as he lead you to your room.

Both of you laid in each other's arms in bed, the sheets covering both your bodies. Johnny pulled you close and kissed your forehead.
"Y/N Cade..." You mumbled.
"Hm?" Johnny asked.
"Y/N Cade." You replied a little louder, "I like it."
"Me too. It sounds like it's made to be."
Johnny held you a little closer as you nuzzled your face into his chest.
You both fell asleep, in love with each other.
