It was a cold, crisp morning outside in Tulsa. The sun just peeked from the ground.
You yawned as you walked on the sidewalk to the DX. You hated waking up early.
You worked at the DX to earn some money. You've worked there every weekend because you still had school on the weekdays.
But there was no school today, which was a Monday. It was a teacher work day.
You decided to work at the DX to get some extra money and surprise your friend, Steve Randle.
You met Steve when you first worked at the gas station.
He was nice to you. Well, probably because you were a girl. But you weren't like those cheap girls. You actually had a mind of your own.
You spotted the DX from a few blocks away.
It looked like there was already a car there.
There were a bunch of guys around it. Steve was with the guys, talking with them. Looks like they were pals.
They started to tease Steve. You could hear them from all the way out there because they were pretty loud.
"Who's the lucky woman? Huh, Steve?" One in a Mickey Mouse t-shirt teased him.
"Her name is Y/N." Steve replied.
That caught your attention.
Huh? Wait, me? Lucky woman? You wondered.
You quietly hid behind a pole near them and listened to their conversation.
"Wait, Y/N?" Soda exclaimed, "I knew that you liked her! It was so obvious! How long did you like her?"
"For about two months already." Steve replied, thinking.
WHAT?!
Your heart started beating out of your chest. You covered your mouth with your hand to stop you from squealing.
"Oh em geeeee!" Soda started squealing very loudly.
"SHHHH!" Steve shushed Soda.
"Why?" A boy with black hair and tan skin asked, "She ain't here."
"I know, but..." Steve said, unsure.
"So," It was Dallas Winston, "What does she look like?"
Oh right, they don't know me except for Soda. Maybe because I don't work here that often.
"Well," Steve sighed, "She got really nice y/h/c hair. Y/e/c eyes that just look so beautiful...actually, everything about her is beautiful, no...hot. Like really hot. Man, that body. And she got this personality. It's not like all those other chicks. Her personality is like genuine. Oh, and her laugh. It's like music..."
You could hear him talk for days. Your heart felt like it had melted and your ears were blessed.
You couldn't believe the words that Steve confessed about you.
"Wow," the boy with black hair sighed, "She sounds wonderful."
"She is." He agreed.
"She doesn't know yet? That you like her?" Dallas asked.
"Naw, but I think I'ma ask her out today." Steve said, "Do y'all think she'd say yes?"
Everyone agreed.
Of course, Steve.
You were getting more excited with each passing second.
You decided to walk out of your hiding spot. You took a deep breath and pretended that you heard nothing what they just said.
"Hey, Steve!" You called out to him like you just saw him.
Steve quickly looked towards your direction and mouthed "shit".
He kicked everyone out and they all drove away.
"I didn't know that you'd be here, Y/N." He said as you reached him
"Well, no school and I wanted to earn some extra cash."
Steve was getting anxious, he was nervous to tell you. You giggled a little because you knew what he was going to say.
You wanted to play with him for a bit. Teasing Steve was fun after all.
You gave a small smirk and put your hands on your hips.
"Is there something you want to tell me?" You asked in a seductive tone, inching closer to him.
He gulped and went stiff as a board.
"I-ah, erm." He tried to say.
"Come on," You said, putting your hand on his shoulder, "You can tell me anything."
You breathed "anything" into his ear, making him shiver.
Steve wasn't normally a nervous wreck. He was a tough greaser. But here, he felt weak.
"I...I wanted to say," Steve began, clearing his throat, "I-I wanted to tell you that I lo-,"
You interrupted him by giving him a kiss on the lips. It was quick, like a peck.
His eyes widened and he turned completely red.
"I know." You laughed at his reaction.
He started to relax and he sighed.
"Damn, you knew this whole time?" He asked.
"No, heard you talking about me just earlier."
"Oh, um, how much did you hear?"
"Everything, even all the wonderful things you said about me."
Steve seemed to turn even more red.
"So...do you feel the same?" He asked as he gave you a nervous smile.
"Of course I do, Steve! And yes, I would love to be your girl." You replied happily.
Steve's nervous smile quickly turned into a big, toothy grin that stretched across his entire face.
He pulled you in by your waist and kissed you again. But this time, the kiss was long and passionate.
"Awwww!" Soda gushed as he wiped the tears from his face.
You both chuckled and went to work.
The entire time, both of you kept glancing and blushing at each other, madly in love.
