Soda has been your best friend in the whole world since pre school.
Both of you bonded instantly when you first met.
Everyday, you would be excited to go to school for one reason only.
Sodapop Curtis.
You guys sat together, ate together, played at recess together, everything!
Eventually, he introduced you to the gang and his brothers.
Pony and Darry treated you like a sister and you always saw them as your brothers.
As the years went by, you started to have feelings for Soda. Little did you know, so did he.
It was the end of middle school. He nervously asked you out and you said yes.
You've been an amazing couple ever since. You never fought and you always listened to each other. Well, until that day.
You opened the door to the Curtis house to study with Soda again.
Pony and Darry greeted you as you walked in. You made your way to his room and found him lying on the bed.
You both kissed and started to study.
You noticed that Soda was having some trouble with it. He's been struggling with studying for a month now.
Normally, he was a good student.
He dropped his pencil and groaned.
"I hate doing this crap." He mumbled as he fell back and bounced on the bed.
"Come on, Soda," You said, "You got this. You're smart."
"Hah, yeah right." Soda sarcastically laughed.
You sighed and continued to work.
Weeks past and Soda was doing less and less work. His grades were starting to plummet.
You kept encouraging him but he would always shrug it off.
You were worried for Soda. He wasn't like this. He's a bright and happy soul. Everyone who knows him knows that.
You sat in your seat in class. You look at the seat next to you. Soda was supposed to be next to you, but he wasn't there.
He was always on time.
The bell rang and you started to get worried. Was he sick? Where was he?
He didn't show up the entire day.
You realized how lonely you were without him.
You decided to just leave Soda alone for a bit to give him some space, probably he was going through some things.
You hoped that tomorrow he would be back.
He wasn't. And the next. And the next.
You had enough. What was he doing?
After school you barged into his house, angrily.
You asked the gang where was Soda. They got your vibe and nervously pointed at his room.
"Soda!" You said sternly as you knocked on his door and opened it.
He spun around, he was wearing a DX uniform.
"Where the hell were you all these days?!" You snapped at him, "You weren't here at school. Do you know how lonely I was without you? I thought you were sick or something. But I can clearly see that you're fine. What were you doing all this time?"
Soda was silent. He wouldn't look at your face.
"Soda!" You shouted at him, "Answer me!"
There was a long pause.
"I was working." He mumbled.
"What?" You asked, dumbfounded.
"I was working, alright?" He repeated, raising his voice, "I started working at the DX with Steve instead of going to school."
You were still angry with him.
"You have to go back!" You demanded.
"No!" He snapped, "I ain't going back there!"
"Well you are!" You yelled back at him, face to face now.
"I can't and I won't fucking go back!" He yelled, towering over you, "I dropped out, okay! I hate high school! I can't fucking do anything 'cus I'm so dumb! I haven't felt happy in months because of all the stress. So I quit and worked at the DX. Haha, I'm finally happy now that I'm free. Not studying with you and dealing with school."
He was breathing hard and turning red from anger. He gritted his teeth and narrowed his cold, blue eyes at you.
His loud voice scared you. You never heard him act like this.
"Wait," You said softly, tears starting to form in your eyes, "You mean that you aren't happy with me anymore?"
"Exactly!" He yelled looking down and pointing at your face.
You slightly gasped. Your wide eyes filled with tears and your lip quivered.
You turned and ran out the room. You past the gang, they heard what happened. They tried to stop you but you dodged them and ran out the door, sobbing.
Your tears blinded your vision but you kept running. You ran like there was no tomorrow.
But then you tripped and fell, gashing your knee in the process.
You winced and held your knee, lying on the ground. You curled up into a ball, crying and helpless.
"Y/N!" It was Soda.
You saw that he was running towards you.
Guilt and worry stabbed Soda in the heart. He didn't mean to hurt you.
"Y/N, I-," He softly said, reaching his arms out to you.
"Don't touch me!" You cut him off as you scooted away.
You winced from the pain and you felt blood dripping down your leg.
"Please, Y/N," he pleaded you, "I'm so sorry. I'll fix you up and we'll talk there."
You finally nodded, surrendering because you couldn't go anywhere. He carried you bridal style back to his house.
He put you on the counter and got out some bandages, tissues and other stuff.
His touch was gentle against your skin.
Your eyes were puffy from crying and you still wouldn't look at him.
It hurt him to see you like this.
"Y/N," He softly said, "I'm so, so sorry. I didn't mean saying that I wasn't happy with you. I love you so much. I'm sorry I just left school without even telling you. I was under so much stress and anger and I didn't know how to let it out. You deserve so much more than me, you're a beautiful and wonderful woman."
He started to cry and you felt a little bad, too.
"Soda," You replied, "I forgive you but this is also my fault too. I'm your girlfriend and best friend. I was supposed to support you. It's your life and you could do anything you want with it, it isn't mine to control. So, it's fine if you drop out. At least you're happy now."
He shook his head and smiled.
"I've always been happy since the beginning 'cus of you."
You pulled him in for a long hug. He buried his face into your shoulder and you kissed his forehead.
"How 'bout we take a nice shower and spoon each other to sleep?" Soda smirked into your shoulder.
"Sounds good." You chuckled.
