My Hero Acadamia Short Stories (Volume 1)

Shift: Part 5 (Shinsou)

I stood in my room trying to get my shirt on. There was a knock on my door.

"Y/n?" I heard from the other side. "Can I come in?" The question startled me. No one had ever asked before coming into my room before.

"Yes." I said.

"Are you ready to go?" Shinsou asked, as he came in.

"How do you do this?" I asked looking at my shirt.

"You've never buttoned a shirt before?" He asked me and showed me how to slip the button into the hole.

"No, I've only ever had pull over shirts." I said. "And I've never worn something like this before." I said gesturing to the skirt.

"Well, get used to it." He said. "You gotta wear this everyday when you go to school. Afterwards you can change into other clothes." I slipped my jacket on and attempted to try and do the buttons on it, but failed and Shinsou had to do them for me.

"Is this going to be hard?" I asked him, as we left my room.

"Maybe." He told me. "Have you ever had any type of learning?"

"Not exactly." I said. "Father taught me to read and write when I was younger. And because I was his favorite it was able to get my hands on books. But other than that Father thought that schooling was a waste of time, and that there were more important things to do."

"Like doing experiments on you?" Shinsou asked as we walked down a hallway with lots of other kids my age.

"Father didn't do experiments on me." I said. "He only took me out of my room when he was positive that a part of the serum would work. My brothers were the ones he experimented on."

"To make you perfect?" He asked me and I nodded.

"My brothers don't like me much." I said.

"Well I like you." He told me and I looked up at him surprised. "What?"

"Nothing." I said and we stopped at a door.

"This is your class. Class 1-A." He told me and opened the door. "I'll come get you when it's time for lunch okay?" I nodded and stepped into the classroom.

"Y/n, there you are." Aizawa said and waved his hand for me to get closer to him. "These are for you." He said and handed me a couple of books and pens. "Do you know how to read?"

"Yes." I said.

"Good." Aizawa said and loud sound rang through the school. "It's okay." He told me after I jumped. "It's just the school bell. It's says when class starts and begins." I nodded and kids started filing into the room and sat down. "Alright class, we have a new student. This is y/n, be patient with her she has a lot to learn." He then gestured for me to go take a seat and I went over to an empty seat next to Momo and a boy with red and white hair.

"Hey, are you excited?" Momo asked me.

"I guess." I said and I felt like I wanted to curl up into a ball.

"This is Todiroki." She said and pointed across from me to the boy with red and white hair. He held his hand out to me and I shook it.

"Mr. Aizawa has asked us to help you with anything you might need." He told me.

"Alright class open your text book to page 143." Aizawa said and I opened my book to see lots of beautiful pictures. I flipped through the pages and started reading from the beginning. It was a book about the history of Musutafu.

The bell rang and I jumped a little.

"Alright class I'll see you here after lunch." Aizawa said and everyone packed up their things.

"Say y/n? Do you want to sit with us?" Mina said as she came up to me.

"Umm." I hummed. "Shinsou said he'd come get me." I told her and Momo as we walked towards the door.

"Both of you can sit with us if you want." Momo told me.

"Okay." I said and they walked away.

"How was class?" Shinsou said as he came up to me in the hall.

"I read." I told him. "I learned about Musutafu. This city has a lot of problems."

"Yeah, we probably don't help with us being hero's in training." He said and we walked into the lunch room. I looked over at a table and saw Momo and Mina. "Do you want to sit with them?"

"Momo said we could both sit with them if you wanted to." I told him, and he sighed. "But we don't have to." I said.

"Come on." He said and dragged me towards my classmates.

"Y/n! Shinsou!" Mina said and Todiroki moved over so me and Shinsou could sit next to each other.

"Y/n do you want to get some lunch?" Momo asked me and I nodded my head. "Do you have any money?"

"What's money?" I asked. She smiled and Todiroki sat me back down.

"Wait here, we'll be right back." He said and him and Momo walked away.

"Say y/n." Mina said getting my attention. "Us and some of our other classmates are going to go the mall for dinner and some shopping. Do you want to come with?" I looked at Shinsou.

"You can go with if you want." He told me. "I won't go though." I then felt really nervous.

"You don't have to feel nervous we'll be with you the whole time." Mina told me and took my hand.

"Will I need money?" I asked her.

"You don't have to worry about that either." Momo said as she and Todiroki came back over to the table. "I'll help you with that." I looked back over at Shinsou again, and he nodded to me.

"Okay." I told them.

"Yay." Mina said and clapped her hands. "I'll walk you back to your dorm and help you get ready after school."
