I sat on the steps in front of the hospital waiting for him to be released. For some reason Hawks had agreed to take me on as a side kick, which was weird because I didn't have any aspect of a bird to the point he would take any interest in me.
I had a song quirk, and really wasn't much help with fights. However I do have a unique trick, that other people with my quirk can't do. I can use my quirk to somewhat "enchant" someone. Make them fall in love with my voice through song.
Mr. Aizawa told me he thinks that one day my quirk will be strong enough to create a small army with the power of my voice. I think he only told me that to give me hope that I might be a hero some day.
"Hey there kid." I heard Hawks say. I turned my head to see him walking towards me with his jacket in hand, and bandages wrapped around his shoulder. He walked down the steps enough to sit next to me and wrap his good arm around my shoulders. "Didn't know you were waiting for me. Why don't we grab a bite to eat, before heading home. Or maybe we could head straight home, and you could be my bite to eat." He whispered the last part to me putting his head into my neck and started kissing it.
Not long after I became his side kick we, in other words, started dating. And I knew from the beginning that I was digging myself into a hole. We hadn't done much of anything generic for dating, other than the sex part. But even then it didn't feel as if there was any meaning behind it. The only time he really only looked at me was when he wanted to have sex, any other time he acted as if I wasn't there at all.
"Why did you do that?" I asked him, and looked back at my hands and pulling away form his kisses.
"What are you talking about kid?" He asked.
"Why did you jump in front of me?" I asked him. "You could have died."
"Oh it was nothing kid." He told me. "It was just my shoulder, and all I needed was stitches."
"It still could have killed you." I said.
"But it didn't." Hawks said and started nibbling on my neck again. "So don't sweat it."
"How am I not supposed to sweat it?" I questioned him and pushed him away from me, and started walking away from him.
"Kid, what's your problem?" I heard Hawks ask and I knew he was coming after me.
"I'm the problem!" I told him, but I didn't turn back to him. It was late at night now, and there was nobody around to watch or hear us. "Everyone around me always gets hurt, because I can't ever use my head. I should just quit school, I don't deserve to be a hero." Hawks suddenly grabbed onto my arm and whipped me around and grabbed both of my arms.
"Take that back." He told me.
"No." I said and pushed him off of me.
"You deserve to be a hero." Hawks told me.
"No I don't." I said.
"Why?" He asked, me and I started walking down the street again. "Because I got hurt one time, protecting you?"
"I'll take my resignation letter to your agency tomorrow." I told him. "And whatever it is that you and me have been doing, we should end it."
"That's it." I hear him say before his arms wrapped around my body, and my feet were suddenly off the ground.
"Hawks let me go!" I yelled at him, and pulled at his arms.
"Do that and you'll fall to your death." He yelled back at me.
"I don't care." I told him and reached around and punched him in his bad shoulder. He let go of me and I started falling. Hawks grabbed my wrist with his good arm and carried me over to a rooftop of one of the tallest buildings in the city.
He dropped me and I fell to the ground. I got up running for the door that would take me into the building, but as soon as I cracked it open Hawks slammed it shut taking the door knob out of my hand by the force of it. He spun me around and pushed me against the door.
"What is your problem?" He yelled at me, and I had never seen this look in his eyes before. He was beyond pissed.
"I told you, I'm the problem." I yelled back at him.
"How are you the problem?" He questioned me.
"I don't know you tell me." I told him and pushed him off of me.
"What is that supposed to mean?" He asked me and pinned the door shut again, but didn't trap me this time.
"Ever since I became your sidekick, and we started doing whatever the hell we've been doing, you treat me like I'm nothing." I said, and I started choking on tears. "I've stood by you every god damn day, putting up with your bullshit! And you don't even look at me!"
"I'm looking at you right now." He said.
"No, the only time you look at me is when you want to use me for sex!" I yelled and he flinched. "Is that all you want me for? Because I started going along with all of this, because I thought you actually wanted me. Only to find out you just want to use me. But suddenly you save me from being killed! And now I don't know how to fucking feel!"
"That's-." Hawks started to say something but I cut him off.
"Is that what you're doing or not?" I yelled.
"No!" He yelled back.
"Then what the hell are you doing?" I screamed and he grabbed my arms and shook me.
"I don't know! Okay?" He screamed back and pushed me against the door and put his forehead on my shoulder. "I don't know." He whispered to me, and his wings drooped. "I don't know what I feel when I'm with you. I've been with a couple of people I thought I wanted to be with for the rest of my life, but they didn't want anything more than to use me. And then I met you, and I've never felt like this before."
"Keigo." I said and placed my hands on his back and he hugged me.
"I don't just think that I want to be with you for the rest of my life, I feel it." He told me. "And I don't know what to do."
"Why didn't you say something?" I asked him.
"Cause I was afraid you were going to leave." He said, and my eyes widened. I felt tears running down my face. "I'm sorry I haven't treated you right, I just didn't want to get hung up on someone who was going to use me again."
"I would never use you." I told him.
"But I didn't know that." He said, and his voice hitched. He was crying too. "And when we slept together for the first time, I had never felt more alive. And I didn't know what any of it meant. But now I do." He hugged me closer to him and held me tighter. "It means I love you." I laughed a little into his shoulder and kissed his neck.
"I love you too." I told him and he pulled away from me, and looked me in the eyes. He had tears rolling down his face, just as much as I did. I ran my thumbs over his cheeks and wiping the tears off of his face. They didn't suit him.
"Say that again." He told me, getting closer to my face.
"I love you." I told him and he locked his lips to mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he pulled me closer to him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and shot off the rooftop.
