I laid in my bed with my blanket up over my head hoping that my blanket would be enough to suffocate me. There was a knock on the my door, but I didn't get up.
"Y/n?" I heard come from the other side of the door, it was Mina.
"Come in!" I called, but I didn't come out from under the blanket.
"Okay, I got you your stuff." She said and I felt the bag hit near my feet. "I also got you some nice treats!"
"I hate you." I told her, and I felt the bed dip near me.
"I love you too." She told me. "Anyway I gotta get going. Have fun~!" She said and heard her leave the room. But the dip in the bed didn't go away. I slowly peaked out from under the blanket and sitting next to me was Sero. I screamed and tucked myself in the corner of my bed.
"Calm down it's just me." He laughed at me, but now was not the time to be laughing.
"Get out." I told him and pointed for the door.
"I just wanted to return this." He said and held up my book bag, I had left it in the classroom when I ran.
"Okay, thank you." I told him. "Now please get out."
"Mina explained it to me." He told me, and I felt like I was going to have a stroke.
"I'm going to kill her." I said and threw the blanket over my head.
"Hey it's okay." He said and I felt him touch my leg through the blanket.
"No it's not." I said, and kicked his hand away from me. "None of this is okay."
"Why not?" He asked me.
"It's hard to explain." I said. "It's a fox thing."
"Well I'm pretty sure this whole thing is a fox thing." He laughed, and I couldn't help but growl at him. "Come on you can tell me."
"Foxes. . . . ." I said, and took a deep breath. "When us foxes find a mate we're attracted by scent."
"And you found my cologne attractive?" He asked.
"More than the cologne." I said. I slowly reached my hand out and felt around until Sero grabbed my hand. A tingle ran up my arm, just from his touch. "It's your touch. Your presence. You're scent alone by itself without a perfume to enhance it."
"So you find me attractive?" Sero asked, and I could hear the smile on his face.
"Yes." I said, but I wasn't smiling. I pulled my hand back under the blanket. "And that's why it's so bad."
"How is that a bad thing?" He asked. "I mean you've talked about how you think celebrities are attractive before."
"Yes attractive." I agreed with him. "But not mate worthy attractive."
We both went silent, and I was getting really hot now under the blanket.
"You, want to-." Sero finally started saying something, but I couldn't let him finish asking.
"And it's bad, because it can't happen." I said.
"Well, why not?" He asked, and it didn't take my fox ears to hear the hurt in his voice.
"Because it's not the fox way." I said. "I have a duty as a fox."
"A duty?" Sero asked, and I could hear he was getting upset.
"My family, is old school." I told him.
"Old school how?" Sero asked me.
"Arranged marriage type, old school." I said, and Sero didn't say anything. "My kind is a dying breed. And we have a duty to do everything in our power to keep our kind alive. I have a duty to-." The blanket was suddenly yanked off my head, and I looked to see Sero angry.
