It's been two months since I started my work study with Hawks, and I surprising learned a lot from him. Everyday he insisted on sparing with me to find a fighting style that fit me. He was really focused on trying to help me find who I was.

And it was pretty obvious right away that my fighting style had to be a bit more up close and personal then him, due to me having smaller wings meant smaller feathers. When I went to use my feathers as a blade, they were really only long enough to be used as daggers.

"Alright kid so next time, when you're coming in like this." Hawks said, and grabbed me so he could guide me with what he was showing me. "Let your body use the weight you got. When you use your elbow like this, where do you aim?

"Just under the rib cage." I answered.

"And when you strike you got to use your other hand to support your arm." He said and placed my other hand where I needed to support. "Then after that, use your body to push as hard as you can. If you swing as you're coming in, you'll knock the wind out of them and depending on their size, you can even knock them to the ground. Either way, it'll give you the advantage."

"Would it work if they're really tall?" I asked him, and he let me go.

"Well if their a lot taller than you, you definitely want to try and get them to the ground some how." Hawk said. "If you can make a hit in the stomach really it should do the job. Unless they have legit abs of steel, in which case say goodbye to your elbow."

"What if I can't get them to the ground?" I asked.

"Well you're gonna be fighting up closer than most hero's and villains." He explained. "Luckily you're smaller and faster, so you shouldn't have an too big of an issue getting up close and personal. From there you can take them down."

"Right." I said and nodded.

"Hey, kid." Hawks said and rubbed the back of his neck. "I've been meaning to talk to you about this for a while. But I was wondering if-." He was suddenly interrupted by a phone call, he looked at it. "Ugh, hold that thought." He told me and walked away.

'What the hell was he going to ask?'

I sat down on a bench, and took a drink of water. I couldn't stop thinking about what it was that he wanted to ask me, and it started giving me anxiety.

"Kid we got to go." Hawks said suddenly nervous.

"What's up?" I asked.

"There's been a huge attack at a bank." He said and we ran outside. "They need us there now."

We took to the air and I pulled out my mask. I hadn't gotten my hero outfit, it was still in the works due to everyone else needing an outfit too, but I had gotten a mask made out of my baby feathers.

I put it on right as we landed and saw Miruko trying to fight a large amount, however she didn't seem to be having the best of luck. There were three guys shooting at from behind a car, and I dove at them. I kicked one in the head as I landed, before punching the second one, and using the trick that Hawks had taught me with my elbow.

"There you go kid!" Hawks said as he knocked another guy out.

"You brought the kid?" Miruko yelled.

"She'll be fine!" Hawks yelled back at her. Another guy came around the corner of the building with his gun pointed straight at me. I ran at him and used my wings to zig-zag and jump over his bullets as he tried to hit me. When I reached him I kicked the gun out of his hands before flying high enough to grab his head and shoving my knee into his nose.

"Okay, so I was wrong." Miruko said. There was a loud screeching sound and we looked to see a couple of guys were taking off in a car.

"You stay with Miruko!" Hawks told me before I could take to the air, and he took off after the car.

Me and Miruko then started gathering up all of the bad guys right as the police arrived to cuff them and take them away.

"Stupid bitches." One of them said, I turned to see the guy I hand introduced to my knee was about to be put into a police car. "Too bad you're about to lose your precocious bird boy."

'What?'

I flapped my wings once and was instantly on top of him, and shoved him against the car.

"What did you say?" I asked him and grabbed the collar of his shirt, and the officer let me take him. This man was extremely tall, and I had to stand on my toes in order to hold onto his collar.

"You ain't getting shit out of me, pipsqueak." He spit in my face and I kneed him in the balls, and shoved him to the ground before crouching over him.

"Talk or you're going to have to be rushed to the hospital." I told him.

"You're a hero, you ain't going to do shit." He said, and I breathed one singular laugh. I grabbed one of my feathers and shoved it into his leg. He screamed in pain and I left it there in his leg.

"Lucky me." I said. "I'm not a hero yet. Now start talking!" I gently twisted my feather.

"Alright! Alright!" He yelled and I stopped moving my feather. "We were hired to cause a distraction, get that bird brain here and away from any other hero's."

"Hired by who?" I asked him.

"Some new villain." He said. "I don't have a name, but he is one scary motherfucker."

"What does he want with Hawks?" I questioned him.

"I don't know." He told me and I twisted my feather in my hand. "I swear I don't know! He said something about getting himself a new trophy."
