Chapter 14 | Reading Faces

Kaminari's Pov.

  'Weird... Why is Kyoka agreeing with me so much today? It's nice... but so unlike her.'

  "Well... Okay..." Sero sighed.

  There was an uncomfortable silence.

  Kaminari sent Sero a look that said "Why did you have to ruin the conversation?".

  Sero looked at him in a way that meant "You could always start another.".

  Ashido jumped into the conversation of sending each other looks, she said "Why can't you start a conversation? Unless you want to make your date bored. Without us here, you would've been stuck in silence.".

  Sero knew what was going on, so the next time he sent a look, it said "You guys aren't even on a double date! You only came to interrupt Jiro and I!".

  Kaminari sent him another look that meant "You wouldn't be right for her".

  Sero stood up and sent him another look that said "Do you want to fight?".

  Kaminari smirked, meaning "No, because Kyoka would disapprove us fighting in a restaurant, you should know that about her.".

  Sero sat back down ad sort of glared "What do you know about her then?".

  Kaminari shrugged "I don't know her too well, but that's why I want to get to know her better.".

  Sero glared at him "You would just play her and move on.".

  Kaminari glared back "No I wouldn't.".

  "Look, I don't know the conversation that you're having, but it's kinda rude that I don't know how to read faces and you're talking behind my back," Kyoka chimed in.

  "We're not saying anything bad about you K-" Kaminari stopped himself. He wasn't going to call her by her first name while she was on a date. 

  "So you were talking about me..." Kyoka looked a little sad.

  "We weren't technically talking about you! We were reading each others faces!" Sero tried.

  Ashido sent them another look that said "Stop talking or I'll murder you in your sleep.".

  "See? You're doing it again..." she sighed, "Maybe I should just leave..."

  "Don't worry, Ashido told us "Stop talking or I'll murder you in your sleep."," Kaminari told her.

  "I should go..." Kyoka stood up.

  "I'll go with you," Ashido stood up.

  "Me too," Sero stood up.

  "Just Mina," Kyoka made up her mind.

  "I don't want to stay here with him," Kaminari and Sero said at the same time.

  He didn't really mind that Sero said that.

  "What if we come back here after a little while, I bet I can convince her to come back," Ashido looked over her shoulder as she walked away with Kyoka.

  Kaminari sighed.

  'I really didn't want to be left with Sero... even if Ashido stayed it would be much better...'

  Kaminari sighed again.

  'I'll be stuck with him for a little while at the longest, but I trust that Ashido will bring Kyoka back soon. She can be persuasive...'

  He started remembering all those times Ashido persuaded him to do stuff...

  'She's really persuasive...'

Jiro's Pov.

  She and Mina left the table.

  "What was the conversation about while you were reading each other's faces?" Jiro asked Mina.

  "Maybe it's best you don't find out yet," Mina told her, "But I promise it was nothing bad."

  "Well... okay..." Jiro nodded her head. 

  'Kaminari and Mina... a pairing that I never knew would happen... I mean, who would date that idiot? He's just perverted and friendly and a good singer and pretty good at being a hero...'

  Jiro shook her head around.

  They left the restaurant to walk around.

  'I just can't believe that Kaminari and Mina are on a date...'

  Jiro sighed.

  'He was just calling me by my first name this morning, and now he's on a date with Mina!'

  She clenched her fists so that she didn't start yelling and punching.

  'Why is he such an idiot!?'

  "Jiro, I have a question for you," Mina started, "And answer honestly."

  "What is it?" Jiro asked, trying not to let an angry tone consume her words.

  "Who are you thinking about right now?" she questioned.

  Jiro felt a little heat rush to her face, but she didn't know why.

  "What do you mean?" she wondered aloud.

  "You're either thinking about Sero or Kaminari right now," Mina looked at her, "But which one?"

  "I don't know what you're talking about..." she lied.

  "Don't lie," she put a hand on Jiro's shoulder, "I can see right through you."

  "Fine..." she sighed, "I was thinking about Kaminari. But nothing good."

  "You didn't even get me with that half truth," Mina giggled, "You were thinking at least a few good things about him."

  "How do you know that?" Jiro asked.

  "It's easy for me to read body language," she explained.

  "Er... okay..." she was a little confused.

  "I can also tell that you're jealous," Mina said it like she had it all figured out.

  "Wha- No!" Jiro definitely wasn't jealous!

  "You wish that you were the one going on a date with Kaminari," she continued.

  "No, you're wrong!" Jiro crossed her arms and turned her head the other way so that Mina couldn't see her blush.

  "I'm just going to let you know now that we were lying when we said that Kaminari asked me out, we just wanted to interrupt you guys while you were having a date," Mina admitted.

  Jiro stopped in her tracks.

  "Really?" she wondered aloud.

  Mina turned around, "Yeah."

  'So they really weren't going on a date...'

  "Well anyway, you guys made it more interesting," Jiro told her, "I'm glad you guys interrupted."

  "So are you going to be Sero's girlfriend?" Mina questioned.

  "No, I didn't feel a spark between us," Jiro confessed, "I'm waiting until I really have emotions over a guy."

  "Like Kaminari?" her friend giggled.

  "No!" Jiro crossed her arms.

  "Well anyway, let's get back to the boys before they start fighting," they changed direction.

  "Why would they be fighting?" Jiro asked. She was a little confused.

  "All in due time," Mina told her, "All in due time."
