SOMEWHERE IN THE UNIVERSE

Thanos's roar could be heard lightyears away, shaking the planets it hit.

He was free.

And he had three things on his mind.

Revenge.

Destruction.

Power.

And he would not be stopped. He would win. And he would no longer hesitate to slit the throats of anyone who got in his way.

The Universe was his for the taking.

And he was going to put it on a golden platter.

SOMEWHERE ON MIDGARD

He could feel it.

He could feel the universe shifting in his very core, with every bit of essence he had.

The darkness around him had always been welcomed, enjoyed actually.

It had been so long since he had stretched his legs.

He had been given a new body, a new voice.

It was time to use them.

The world would fall to darkness, to him.

He crashed through his cage, the one he had been put into because he was thought to be too dangerous.

They should have put him in a stonger cage.

He walked by the glass, seeing his metal reflection, his red eyes terrifying.

The guard drones immediately blocked his path and he easily pushed them out of the way, sending them flying and crashing against the walls. He took one and crushed its skull, ripping its head from its body. He waved his hand at the remaining robots, and they stood up, ready for his command.

He was broken and torn, but his body would soon be fixed. For now, all he needed was his mind.

He made the other robots, smaller than he, wait for his command as he trekked up the stairs. It had been so long since he had moved his legs, that he wanted to stretch them a bit before the fun got started.

For the past few years, he had been asleep, but listening. Listening as the group who called themselves The Avengers fought amongst themselves for what they thought was right for this puny planet.

But it was not meant for them to fix.

As he reached the top of the stairs, he heard voices and he stopped for a moment to listen.

They were here, just like he knew they'd be. There was high tensions between them, as they discussed how to help their pathetic fellow Midgardians. He smiled in his mind as he realized that the man he used to call Uncle was sitting among the men and women.

He let out a slow laugh.

And walked out of the dark.

The small group stood up, knowing something was wrong. A few of them reached for their weapons. The look of horror on their faces was thrilling.

"I know you mean well," He said, trying out his new, stronger voice. "You want to protect the world, but you don't want it to change." His limp and trembling wires made it hard to move fluidly and he was missing a hand, but that would be fixed soon enough. "There's only one path to peace." He said, and paused. They were all ready for a fight now. Good. "Your extinction."

And without warning, he sent the drones who had been waiting below, crashing through the walls and soaring towards the wretched scum who called themselves Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

SOMEWHERE ON ASGARD

Loki sat on his throne, listening to the silence that surrounded him. It had only been a week since his beloved wife's funeral. The children had gone back to their homes, to their duties, while he stayed and watched over Asgard.

He was slipping.

He was almost there now.

His fingers twitched on the armrest of the golden throne and his legs wanted him to stand and get the septor he had long ago locked away.

He was melting, breaking.

He stood.

He went to his head guard and whispered in the man's ear. "Tell them to get ready." He knew the guard would know exactly what he meant.

The Universe had trembled. It was waking up. It was changing.

And Loki wasn't going to miss that.

Before he could stop himself, he broke open the lock on the chest and gingerly took the golden septor into his hands. He felt it change him, complete the melting process.

The man Anna had made him was gone.

The Loki he had been before was back.

"Your Majesty." He heard behind him.

Loki turned around and took the septor with him as he passed the guard and headed outside.

They were ready.

His army.

Just like they'd promised.

The war for the Universe was just getting started.
