Daniel was shown into Drabert's Office in the Imperial Secretariate Building.

He had a file projected from his communicator. The attendant gave the beverages and left. Drabert had not called his assistant or secretary for the meeting.

Daniel smiled and waited for Drabert to start. Drabert went directly to the point.

"Daniel, I know you were unhappy with the way things happened in Techredulous meeting the other day." He said. Daniel looked blank for a moment as the subsequent events had made that matter irrelevant.

Drabert continued, "I also know you were forced to sell your company, or most of it, to Luke Jones. But you had over-leveraged your position and taken investments from different individuals and you were already a minority anyway. You were not listed and there was no way you would be successfully listed at this time. So, you were at mercy of your investors, and they were at your mercy.

"I know that's how many companies have grown. But that is also how many companies have been lost. In this case, we did not want someone else owning the Micro-Mega. And it would have happened very soon. Someone wanting to control or destroy Dusk Hale would have bid for your company. With her contract with Micro-Maga, she would be stuck."

Daniel looked at him in straight in the eye and asked, "Who actually owns my company now? Luke Jones, or you? Or someone completely else. I know Luke does not have $20 million. If he has taken it from someone else, then the risk to me remains the same."

Drabert remained thoughtful for a few seconds and then replied, "Luke's resources are far more than the $20 million he has put in your company. At the moment, all you need to know is that he has massive resources and money that will follow his instructions blindly, wherever he wants and for how long he needs them. But for your own sake, do not ask or investigate this matter."

"I am already sure his father is not a government employee either..." Daniel ventured.

Drabert ignored the comment and continued, "Your future is now deeply entangled with my sister and Luke's Girlfriend. You need to understand where your best interests lie. Luke will do anything to help them succeed and you, with them. But if you dig into things that do not concern you, you will be left with nothing. All I can assure is that the money is legitimate."

Daniel hesitated a bit before asking, "Just so that I don't get lines crossed somewhere, your sister, Princess Rosemary Grant, is Luke Jones' Girlfriend, right?" Seeing the Prince shake his head, he asked astonished, "They are different people? Who is Luke's Girlfriend then? I am so sorry, but I always assumed Luke was Princess Rosemary's Boyfriend. Please I am not being nosy, but I need to know so I don't blunder somewhere."

"Luke Jones is Princess Rosemary's cousin brother, but let's not get into the 'how' of it. She would be very offended if you call him her boyfriend. And Dusk Hale is Luke's Girlfriend. And he is very, very protective of her."

Seeing Daniel's face freeze in surprise, Drabert smiled. If he knew other secrets of Luke Jones, Daniel would probably have a heart attack.

"Now, Daniel, the reason we had to meet today, we have a specific role we for you. 'We' here is the Royal Family. We agree with Luke, that Dusk Hale must not fail. And Rosemary also. True no one expects them to be perfect. Not everything they do will succeed. Without facing some failure, without having to overcome difficulties, they will never learn and grow. So we are not asking that you shield them."

Daniel nodded slowly. What he got from the statement was that the two girls can make mistakes, but in the end, they had to succeed. Not succeed every time but succeed overall. His previous exposure to Nobles was different from what he was seeing with the young man in front of him.
