Chapter 136 : Merger

The Crown Prince left for Regis. And Dusk continued her work in her office. There were lots of things that needed her attention. Arora had got a lot of tasks she wanted completed and this was one of the rare occasions where Dusk was in office for half a day instead of just few hours of the evening.

In the evening, Rosemary and Scarlet came to the office. Catherine and Dawn were already in her office on the 14th floor. They both came up when they found out the elder cousins had come and together, they started harassing Dusk for a celebration. Finally, Daniel Warren also joined them.

"Daniel! Where have you been all these days?" Dusk cried out.

"What? Did you bother to even ask me why I was not here? HA! But when there is a celebration, I will come uninvited." He replied, making Dusk feel guilty for not keeping her first mentor informed... Or for that matter not bothering to even keep in touch with him. "But I like what you have done to your office. I have been coming to the Techredulous office almost every day. On the other hand, the business is too small for you and you are rarely involved in that business any more... Your prodigies are doing well, though."

"So, how did you hear about the compensation amount so soon? I thought it was kept under wraps." Rosemary asked.

"What compensation?" Daniel asked. Seeing the confusion all round, he clarified, "We just signed a licensing deal for $1 Billion with Carla Vacuxa! Non-Exclusive and with a 15% royalty on accessories that are sold with a direct link to the VR Rendering and HRT Engines. After all, it is becoming the most important asset in the VR world and everyone wants to be on the approved user's list. I followed Dusk's suggestions. She has become a master negotiator. Today we are richer by a billion! Of course, very little of it is mine... Now what is the compensation?"

"It is a secret!" Catherine giggled.

"It's ok to tell Daniel. He is a part of our core group, though we have not spent much time together these past 2 months..." Dusk replied. "Daniel, remember the case that Susco filed against Vacuxa? The Thousand Nations government settled the matter with a compensation to me and Regis Cybera College. Sorry, nothing for Techredulous. Apparently, the company did not own it during major of the violation."

"It's ok, they gave us a billion, I can see it is also connected. Else those guys are rascals. How much is the compensation?" Daniel asked.

Catherine answered in excitement, "$5 Billion to Dusk Hale and $1 Billion to Regis Cybera... Can you imagine that?"

Daniel actually collapsed on the chair on hearing the figures. Catherine and Dawn were almost rolling on the sofa in laughter seeing his reaction. To Dawn, in reality, the impact of the numbers had not penetrated her mind. All she understood was that it was a lot of money.

Daniel understood that Luke must have done something again. The amount of compensation was just too absurd for the violations that had been done by Carla Vacuxa. But it was a lot of money and Dusk now had a huge capital base to leverage. If the stories about the Duchy were true, she could use the money to improve her holdings and build infrastructure needed. If she wanted to acquire more businesses, she had an unbeatable war chest.

Arora gave up trying to get any more work done. It was obvious that they were only going to have fun the rest of the evening. She thought about asking Dusk to be allowed to leave since Squid had messaged her to meet for dinner. However, at that moment, Luke walked in.

Seeing the good mood everyone was in, he also joined the call for celebration. On Catherine's insistence, Luke called the captain of the Yacht and told him to be ready for the party.

Seeing that no more work could be done that evening, Dusk let Arora go. She called Susco to see if she was returning on time but found that she was at a Ball in Regis, obviously enjoying herself.
