Chapter 69 : Another Acquisition

In response to Danial's query, the Principal of the college came to the conference room and enthusiastically shook hands with all of them and bowed deeply to Princess Catherine, which made her very happy. After all, to him, any company which is willing to give jobs to his students were important. More people get good jobs, the more popular a college will be.

Besides, his college had got half a million dollars in money from the Imperial Government for sale of the HRT engine that was developed by Dusk Hale for Professor Handa. So in a way, she was a benefactor of the college.

As for Princess Catherine, she was a member of the Royal Family. No member of the Royal Family had ever visited his college. He was very grateful for it.

He confirmed that they had not filed a Patent for any of the things they had made during college or internship projects. Patents were made by the sponsoring organisation in some cases where it was a project funded by a company and executed by the students. In those cases, the Professors got a bonus from the sponsoring organisation. The college's purpose was to give students a hands-on experience in real world project.

"Oh, Heavenly Spirits! There must be thousands of such amazing innovation that have been done, hardly documented and not patented! How will you patent it if the basics is not in place!" Daniel cried in frustration.

He then called Luke and explained the problem. Luke asked him to speak to Prince Drabert or Lord Grant. He chose to call Prince Drabert.

"Your Highness, there seem to be a very big problem I find at Regis Cybera College, and which I suspect is repeated everywhere else." he said. " We are seeing some very important renovation and research work that is done by students here, but no one has taken patents. I think it must be the same all over the place with other colleges also. Can you have someone help them with the Patents?"

Drabert thought for a few seconds and then said, "I will be there in an hour."

Daniel turned to the Principal and said, "I think you better have someone gather all details of every project that has generated a reasonable innovation. Prince Drabert is on his way here and he won't be happy if you waste his time."

Hearing that another member of the Royal Family was coming to the college, the Principal got very nervous and hurried out of the room, almost tripping in the process.

Daniel turned back to the Futurista team. "You file your patent immediately. But we need to understand your product if we need to evaluate it. Dusk Hale has postponed her return to Ci'zagge for this purpose. I do not think it would be good of you to hold back information simply because you think it is a Trade Secret."

Petronus Zule, the leader of the team looked embarrassed and then turned to Dusk, "Ms. Hale, please understand we do not intend to insult you by doubting your integrity. We were a little cagy because you see, this is the basis of our company. We have no problem disclosing everything to you.

"In fact, we need your help, desperately. We do not have the money even to file a Patent now. And we are also exhausted. We started on with enthusiasm more than foresight and now we realise that we are not good with business. We cannot run a business. We are good with products, technology, but we cannot run a company, we cannot manage finance. We are not like you."

Dusk looked at him incredulously. "And you think I am good at all those? Why?"

"Ms. Hale, we are seeing the results in front of our very eyes, however modest you wish to be. The way you demolished Carla! You are at rank 40 in social media. Your business is not small, you have almost 1,600 people working for you. And all that from a small-town girl with just a Tech Education from the same college as us!"
