The dining area suddenly became completely silent, as all conversation stopped. Every head turned to their table, some of the kids stood up to have a better view. Even the servers stopped in their tracks, shocked.

As all turned to look at Auster, he became more flustered. He was embarrassed and worried at the same time. Triggering off Susco like that was a disaster! He was here to woo her not make her an enemy.

Meanwhile the kids at the party started to speculate what had gone wrong. The girls were already giggling. They guessed that he had tried to make another conquest. She was among the few non-teen girls in the party and he must have tried to get her to agree to do some naughty things. The boys, on the other hand, had full sympathy for Auster. At some point of time, either they themselves or their friends had been rejected publicly by a girl.

For many of them, regard and respect for Susco went up. To be able to reject Auster Sliver was itself an achievement.

"Please, Ms. Susco. Please sit down, you do not need to leave the table. Please finish your meal. I will leave." Auster tried to salvage what he could from the situation.

"Mr. Sliver, I am not interested in either your company, or your proposal. And I am not interested in finishing the dinner either, thank you for spoiling my evening." Susco threw down her napkin on the table and turned on her heels making for the inwards of the Manor.

Auster sat down, stunned at the turn of the event. He was expecting that the offer conceptualised by his father to make her head of the fund would be the thing that would win her over to their side. Their offer to Dusk was already sweetened so neither of the girls would refuse. A personal gain for Susco from being made a Fund Manager of a $10 billion fund should have made her jump for joy. He had studied her background. How could she refuse such a prize? The Fund Manager's fees over a 5-year period would be close to 3/4th of a billion dollars.

Lord Cartier happened to be passing by, heard of the commotion and came running to the dining area. Susco almost collided with him as she left in a huff. He stopped her and due to his seniority, she could not just walk past him.

"I am sorry, Ms. Susco. I heard there was some problem. Has someone offended you? Please let me make amends." He said in a soothing voice.

"It's ok, Your Lordship. It is not your fault or your responsibility how someone behaves. Please do not waste your time on it. You have a house full of guests, I am sure the kids are keeping you on your toes. I have dealt with teens and post teens both, and I can understand how much of a handful they are." Susco responded with a weak smile.

"No, No! You are my guest. In fact, you are a special guest. You came to my Son's party even though you did not know anyone here and almost everyone is much younger than you. How can I just tolerate someone's unacceptable behaviour towards you? Please tell me what the problem is!"

Susco sighed, "Your Lordship, I had a bit of a disagreement with Mr. Auster Sliver, whom you probably know. It does not matter at the moment. It's just that I was shocked at what he said. I am sorry, in fact I apologise, for disrupting your party."

Cartier was not buying her story. He asked one of his security officers to call Auster Sliver over. He picked up a glass of spirit and handed it over to Susco. On seeing she was about to refuse, he said, "Take it from one who has been through a lot of disagreements in life. This is mild and helps calm you down."

When Auster came to them, Lord Cartier's face turned cold. "Auster, how can you behave in an insulting manner with my guest? I have been tolerant because of my relationship with your father. But I cannot accept anyone behaving badly to a guest and that too, a lady like Ms. Susco. You will leave the premises immediately."
