In the end, Susco was asked to make another acquisition agreement. She wondered if Dusk could even keep track of her businesses.
"Ms. Susco, I have an offer for you." Luke said quietly standing behind her. She did not realise that he had come over. At his indication, she moved with him to the CEO room.
"This will get very complicated for Dusk, the way it is going. Things need to be brought under control." Luke said.
Susco agreed. She had been thinking about it already. She was almost lost in the number of companies in which Dusk was a director, the number of companies in which she was holding stake. Both directly and indirectly. Who was reporting to her, what was pending in each place... and how much money was committed and available...!
"What do you have in mind, Mr. Jones."
"I want you to form a holding company for Dusk Hale. A company cannot be formed by one person alone. Neither am I willing to let this be a Family Trust. Her family cannot be trusted. So, register an LLC, you take a 1% of the stake, give 1% each to Rosemary and Catherine. Talk to Dusk and make sure she does not mind it. Transfer her holdings in all businesses to it, put her balance money from the Amicus Curie Fund into it too. Have all her companies paying her salary pay it to the LLC." Luke said.
Susco nodded. "And she can take her expenses out of this company as she is the Executive Director. All others will be non-executive... Were you serious about her buying that Metalica company?"
"Patricina Metalics Research Inc? Yes. I will give the money as loan to the LLC. Let the shares carry a Lien till the money is paid back. I will sell all my businesses to the LLC slowly. I do not have the time or energy to look after any of them. You need to create separate Liens for each of them because otherwise, a disaster in one will sink all of them."
Susco wondered if Luke really was in love with Dusk so much that he was giving her all his holdings, practically free? Or was he just creating a front. Dusk would own all the businesses, allowing Luke to pretend they were not his. But Dusk would owe him so much money that she could not pay back for a long time, in reality he would continue to own them. He could take it back at any time by asking for his loan back.
And Dusk would remain eternally grateful allowing him to walk all over her. It was ingenious. Catherine had, by mistake, told her about the fight of the previous day. But after today, Rosemary's hold on Dusk would be nothing compared to Luke's hold on her. She felt she should warn Dusk, but she knew it was impossible. The kid was head over heels in love and would not listen any way. And Luke could destroy her if she tried to take Dusk away...
"I want you to be the Executive Officer of the LLC," Luke continued, "Hire the required people, manage things for her. You can take a salary from the LLC. It will make enough eventually to pay you. well. I am willing to offer you $50,000 a month. Till the time LLC is not making enough money, I will pay you. Your work as Officer of Court can continue and you get paid for it. You should resign from Uni-Viva. Make the agreement for me to sign, but this arrangement remains between us."
Susco almost died of shock. The salary offered was what top Techies in Ci'gazze got paid, not what an ordinary administrator would be paid. It was 3 times her pay from Uni-Viva. In a year, she would have saved enough to live comfortably, take care of her parents... That was without even considering how much a 1% in the LLC would be worth.
She wondered if Luke was just buying her loyalty. Who was he protecting? she wondered. Dusk, or himself? Protecting himself against Dusk or Susco or Both?
But it was a dream come true for her. She struggled hard against the offer and found herself sinking into the same quicksand she had warned Dusk about. Or did she even get a chance to warn Dusk?
