Chapter 62 : Complaint

Dusk turned to the Assistant Advocate General, "Sir, I wish to initiate action against Carla Vacuxa for Illegal Business Practices. I would appreciate your help. Further, Sir, Carla Cacuxa has been advertising for sale of their products claiming it to be compatible with our software and our products, without approval of my company and without any official testing of the compatibility. This has an impact on the image of my business as we will be blamed for failure of their products. We also want to file for compensation for illegal and unauthorized use of our names and our product names in their advertisement."

The man stood up and turned to Dusk, "Sure, Ms. Hale. You may share the documents with me and I will file it officially tomorrow morning. The Advocate General's Office will do preliminary investigation and if the allegations are correct, it will initiate criminal and civil action on your behalf with no cost to you. Even otherwise, you have the right to initiate legal action directly with the Supreme Court at Regis since this is concerning a company controlled by a different country."

"I am forwarding the documents to you sir, for your reference. And I have also spoken to Regis Cybera College, which is the owner of the original VR Agro-Edu solutions designed by Dusk Hale and her team. They are joining the case and claiming damages also. Further, this is the application from Ministry of Education, which was the trustee of the HRT engine that is the primary component of the VR, claiming damages against this company for misuse of Open License norms." Commented Susco, dropping documents into the communicator of the Assistant Advocate General.

Carter Sto and his team look on aghast with their jaws dropping. They felt they had stepped into a trap. Dusk and her team were fully prepared. It is as if they knew what the real agenda was and what was going to be offered by them.

"What is the total quantum of damages that all the 3 parties together are asking for?" The Assistant Advocate General asked.

"Minimum of $25 Billion including exemplary damages, with no upper cap, subject to opinion of Imperial Auditor General's Office."

"$25 Billion? Are you mad?" the stout man from Sto's team cried incredulously.

"That is the minimum. You have already stated you are $100 billion a year. So naturally punitive damages need to be high. Apart from criminal penalties that we will be initiating from the Ministry of Commerce." Oyster said calmly.

An Imperial Guard walked into the conference room and bowed to Catherine, "Princess, the Emperor says he is waiting for you and Ms. Hale to join him for dinner. If your meeting is over, he wants you both to come to his table."

"Sure!" Catherine said, grabbing Dusk's arm as before, she turned and walked out, followed by Susco, Oyster and the rest of the team. Those left in the room looked at each other, shocked...

[In the virtual room, Princess Rosemary was jumping with glee. "This was so amazing. You had those documents ready? You prepared it in advance, means you knew what will happen? And oh my! Dusk exceeded all my expectations in carrying out the 'negotiations'. I will send her for all meetings henceforth. Heavenly Spirits! Did you see their reaction to the Guard calling Catherine for dinner? Your timing is amazing, Julien."

Julien Lidwig nodded and accepted the compliment. "I was not expecting her to be this good. But I am happy she handled it properly. The Advocate General's man was briefed on where and when to intervein, but it was not required. Sir Oyster also would help out if she went astray. Anyway, I was 100% sure that she would not betray us."

"But how did you know they will behave like this?"

"Ha ha ha, let say I have informants working at many levels. They have done this before, btw. Mr. Delo, who was introduced to me by Daniel. He told me of companies he invested in, being bullied by large corporations to accept adverse terms. He now advices the government on this matter now. He helped Susco put together the basic documents. The documents are only outline and blanks. The Advocate General's men will prepare the actual documents."
