December 15th

As I sit in seventh period passing periods, I can't help but think about the holidays. I can't believe that I am actually spending them with Harry, let alone in London. I couldn't be more nervous to meet his family, it was all I had been thinking about since the beginning of December. What if his mom hates me, or even worse, his sister. He always talked about how close he was with his family and how much they meant to him, so if they didn't like me, it was the end of the road.

My thought breaks as my last class walks in the room and I frantically start to put my stuff together. Throw my powerpoint on the board and start to sort the papers I had graded so that I could give them back. Just before the bell rings, I head my phone ding, signaling that I got a notification.

From Harry: quick, what's your favorite song right now?

To Harry: 'Last Christmas' by Wham! Why?

From Harry: ahh very festive of you!

I pushed my brows together, not understanding why he just completely dodged my question, but shrugged it off once the bell rang.

"Alright," I say, standing up and grabbing the classes attention, "I know you guys are excited for winter break and I know you're going to groan and complain for me saying this but I need you to do some homework over the break," I tell them and just as I was expecting, everyone groans at me. I mimic what they do until they stop so I can speak again. "Yes, it sucks, but I'm really not asking for a lot. All you have to do is watch a Christmas movie and write down the plot for a sequel or a prequel you would make for it. That's all." I see one of my students in the corner of the room raise their hand. "Yes?" I say, pointing to her.

"Could you give an example of what you mean?" she asks and I nod.

"So, say I watch 'The Polar Express', I would then make up a plot for the sequel to it. So it would be something like, um, the little boy grows up and has a kid. One Christmas the kid hears a noise outside and wakes up to see the train again with his child getting inside. He tries to stop the kid from going but eventually ends up going on it with him again and seeing all his old friends on it. Something like that," I explained to them. They all nod their heads, showing me they understand and I nod mine back to them. "Alright, I'll give you guys the rest of the time to look up your movies and if you have headphones and would like to, you can move around the room and start watching your movie. That is totally fine with me. I'll turn on some low Christmas music while you guys work." Within seconds, I hear chairs moving against the floor and people standing up to move around. I walk back to my desk, sitting down and going into my laptop. I go to my Spotify playing my favorite Christmas playlist. The first song to play was 'Santa Baby' and I saw some people start to sing along as the song continued.

I decided I would do the assignment as well so the students knew they weren't alone on the work. I started looking up some movies that Harry and I could watch. My favorite Christmas movie was always 'How The Grinch Stole Christmas', but I wasn't sure if Harry liked it or not.

To Harry: do you like How 'The Grinch Stole Christmas'?

From Harry: only my second favorite Christmas movie

I smile at the text, feeling my heart flip knowing he would watch it with me. My family didn't like it as much as I did, so I would always end up watching it by myself.

It might be nice actually watching it with someone this time.

To Harry: what is your favorite?
