I stand there, trying to comprehend everything that is happening while 'Love is Strange' plays behind me. I stare at the sky a little longer, hoping to get a twinkle from my dad, but nothing. I feel my tears dry on my face as I look to the cement.
I didn't want to be here anymore, but I knew I had to, for Laney. I was just so upset and I couldn't tell if it was sadness or anger. I wish I didn't have these feelings for Harry and if I knew how to get rid of them I would.
I could be in a happy relationship with a man who sent in an application to my dream school for me. I could live my dream in New York with him, but Harry just had to always be in the back of my head and it made me upset.
I didn't want to see his face anymore.
I groan and turn around, heading back inside to see everyone dancing in a crowded room. The first person to recognize my presence was Laney. She came out from the middle of the floor towards me. I give her a half smile, but as she gets closer to me, I see her smile slowly float away.
"Ro, what's wrong?" she asks, grabbing both my arms to keep me centered towards her.
"Oh, I just uh," I try to make up an excuse, but can't think of one, "It's nothing, I'm fine." I see her face fill with uncertainty but nods it off and pulls me towards the dance floor. I hear 'The Chain' start playing as everyone huddles into one big group.
Laney and I make our way to the middle where the girls are. Around the girls are Niall, Liam, and Louis, but thankfully no sign of Harry yet. We are all compact in this tight group of people screaming the words and moving our bodies to the beat.
It felt like I was back in the music video. Everyone's body is moving in unison and sweat beads starting to form on my forehead and back of my neck.
We jam through the whole song until the next song comes in, 'Heart Like Yours.' Everyone grabs their dance partner and spreads out on the dance floor. I see Laney and Niall dance, same with Lindsey and Louis, Greta and Liam. I stand in the center of the dance floor until I feel a presence behind me. I feel the goosebumps start to race up my back when I feel someone's hot breath on it.
"May I have this dance?" The thick, British accent whispers into my ear. I close my eyes and purse my lips while staying in my spot. I try to keep all of it inside and just want away, but I forgot that I was always petty when I was angry.
"Actually no, I was just leaving," I quickly turned around and told him before turning back around and walking away. I don't walk until I reach the front door, and that's when I heard the heavy footsteps coming quickly behind me.
"Rosie, wait," Harry says, but I refuse. I walk out into the parking lot until I get restricted by a hand grabbing my shoulder.
"Let it go, Harry!" I scream, turning around to him. I see his eyes go wide, not expecting my burst of emotion towards him. I give him the same face back but with raised eyebrows.
"Why are you acting like this?" He asked, softly. "Why are you so..." he trails off.
"So what? So angry? So frustrated? So heartbroken? What is it?" I ask but he doesn't respond. "Why do you even care, Harry?"
