The thrones sat in a circle, each occupant was silent and apprehensive. Onicent had called them all here a short time ago, and now they sat and waited. Dauntice wore a crown of coral, and at his side on a much shorter throne sat his wife Farren. Farren was not part of the council so she had been given an honorary seat. Their two children sat stiffly in front of them, Sonnis kept her fists clenched at her side.

Serse had arrived with a boy in tow. Everyone had been taken by surprise. Neonee sat on a small chair beside her. Airabella sat on her throne beside Onicent, both wore gold crowns, and at their feet were there four children plus Iyora.

Only Alora sat alone.

At last Onicent addressed his siblings.

"We have gathered here tonight to celebrate." Onicent said, allowing his words to sink in. Satisfied he watched as his siblings felt confusion. "Tonight we have a new member of this assembly."

Dauntice hissed through his teeth. Alora sat up straighter her lips pressed into a frown.

"Welcome my son Amos, god of PvP to our council." Onicent said shortly.

Amos stood up from his seat. His eyes moved to meet Sonnis's. He was met with death glares from Farren and Dauntice, who both moved toward their children.

Alora spoke, "this should go to vote, should it not?"

Onicent smiled at her, "indeed normally I would call a vote, but observe our council is of five, three goddess's but only two god's. The addition of Amos evens the representation."

Alora scowled slightly but nodded in understanding.

"There are other gods though," Dauntice growled. "Why not my son Ianin, he is a god too."

Onicent nodded still smiling, "and what, my brother, is Ianin god of?"

Dauntice's eyes flashed with anger.

"Only god and goddess who have reached maturity should join us," Onicent said, "and only my son has reached maturity."

The information sunk in to all the others. It was undeniably a good argument. But no one was fooled by the choice to add Amos to council.

"Father," a small voice said from the children. Onicent watched the small grey girl rise. "If what you say is true, then I should join council too. I am goddess of architecture." She fixed him with an imploring gaze.

"Quiet daughter," Airabella growled.

"I respect your wishes mother, but there is another god here other then Amos." She said quietly.

"Where is this other god?" Onicent demanded. he was thinking of his brother Maiguh.

"The young orange man," Iyora said pointing to Serse and the boy.

Onicent set his sights there, "son of Serse stand."

Neonee got to his feet quickly. Then somewhat clumsily bowed his head.

"Who are you child?" Onicent said with a deadly edge.

"Neonee, lord." He said sounding frightened. "The god of redstone."

Murmurs went through the room. No one understood, except Alora, how Serse had gotten a child.

"When were you born Neonee?" Airabella spoke her voice tender, but a glint in her eye.

"Sometime this week," Neonee said looking frightened.

"I think that you and Iyora are still too young." Airabella said sweetly, "perhaps more experience first." She added loftily, "being in this assembly requires knowledge and experience."

"I already possess knowledge mother," Iyora said flatly.

Airabella turned the full force of her gaze on Iyora, "silence. That may be true, but you are a child still."

Iyora bowed her head.

"I will take her," Alora spoke up, "I will take her back with me, she will spend time in the overworld."

Airabella was taken aback, but Onicent pressed on. "Tonight we shall welcome Amos to council," Dauntice hissed louder, Onicent continued, "when Neonee and Iyora return they will be welcomed."

Only Serse seemed happy. Neonee sunk back into his seat feeling relieved.

Amos was grinning wickedly, he knelt before his father and accepted his new role. When he rose he knew he now was closer to what he wanted.
