Amos's attempt

Amos walked through the forest. He already knew what he was looking for. She had her feet dipped delicately in the pond, a hand stroked her arm, changing it from the blue to a tree bark colour and back. Sonnis didn't see him yet.

He crept out from the trees so he was behind her.

"Hello my pretty cousin." He mused.

Sonnis startled and turned around. "What do you want Amos?" There was no friendliness in her voice.

"I brought you a gift, I have heard goddess's adore flowers." He drew a pretty blue flower out from his inventory, and held it out.

Sonnis stared at it, then at him. Frustrated he throw it in her face.

"My father told you to stay away from me." She said lowly.

Amos's eyes flashed, "maybe I don't care what your father says."

"Stay away from me Amos," she warned.

Amos's temper flared. He leapt forward faster than Sonnis could move away. He grabbed her by the wrists and lifted her off the ground. She kicked at him as hard as she could, but Amos was the strongest of any of the gods, and therefore felt little.

"Let me go Amos." Sonnis said, there was no more bravo in her voice, it came out as a plea.

"You're mine." He said, "mine and no one else's."

"You're insane!" Sonnis screamed.

Amos enjoyed feeling her struggle against him. Her frightened energy and desperate movements. He could stay like this forever happily.

"Put my sister down." The voice came from his left.

Amos was amused to see a young boy, who resembled Sonnis, poised with a weapon.

"I'd rather not Ianin. I suggest you drop your toy before someone gets hurt." Amos sneered. Ianin held fast, aimed to attack.

It occurred to Amos a fight might be fun. But seeing Ianin squirm would be more fun. So Amos took his captive, and positioned Sonnis as a shield for his own body. Amos had always understood brute force better than more subtle ways of fighting. Naturally he took Ianin as a more dangerous opponent than the girl he had trapped in his arms. Ianin's face changed to concern, but in all this Amos forgot why he needed to hold onto Sonnis's hands.

Sonnis in an instant spread water all around Amos and then in a swift motion she turned it to ice. Amos let go in surprise and pain. He wanted to give chase to the retreating girl. But he found himself rendered immobile. Sonnis dashed to the water, knocking Ianin in and then diving in herself. It was a miracle that Ianin didn't accidentally stab himself in surprise.

"I never understood why father trusted you with that weapon." Sonnis said, "but good luck for me I suppose."

Ianin, still stunned, just nodded. The two siblings transformed themselves into dolphins and swam as fast as they could to their castle.

"Father! Mother!" Sonnis screamed, the other dolphins in the area swarmed her and her brother.

Dauntice came quickly to them, feeling the frenzy all around his children. Sonnis told her father what had happened. Amos had came for her, he had tried to kidnap her. Ianin had came in time to intercept them, allowing Sonnis to escape. Amos should still be frozen out in the forest.

At last he was not. Dauntice wanted very much to find the boy who had caused his family so much trouble. But Amos had escaped some time before and was gone without a trace. Having no way to assure his childrens safety Dauntice devised a plan.

He sent his two children to hide somewhere Amos would never find them. Maiguh's palace in the End.
