It was unthinkable. Epis still felt the flower that was all he had left of his love. Her death had been so sudden and so unfair. He knew was supposed to take his daughters to Mount Minecraftia, and he did lead them there. The walked through the forest in a state more alike to a funeral march. Hermyra and Lyris sang a low sad song which filled the air with the bitterness in the world.
The monsters dared not approach the trio as they walked, even they were crying listening to the music. When Epis passed a village he heard from within wails. The tree nymphs came out and watched the procession, many threw flowers to his daughter's which they bundled together into flowing bouquet. It was reaching dawn when something incredible happened.
As Hermyra and Lyris suddenly began to glow. Epis stumbled in surprise, temporarily being knocked from his wallowing sadness. He watched as his daughter's features changed. Anything human about their faces disappeared, till they only possessed radiance. Hermyra's hair grew and grew till it was bundled on the ground trailing her, as did Lyris's. They seemed to age right before Epis into young woman, not longer the same small girls. Even their clothing changed from the drab garments they had had to dress in. They now wore clothing similar to his siblings, lovely robes that reached their very feet.
Their very grief had burnt away what was human in them. Now they were goddess's the same as Epis was a god.
Epis looked away at once, for he could hardly see Maiella in them anymore. They had been his last trace of his lovely human. Then out of the corner of his eye something flickered. He looked and to his amazement an ender stood their in the tree watching him. When the ender saw him looking it inclined it's head and let forth a stream of strange words which he could not understand. Before he could say anything it was gone.
Epis looked again at his daughters and saw how lovely they had become. He could not hold it to them, they had been meant to grow into this. But he couldn't help but terribly miss Maiella.
They continued, Epis's grief settling over him till he was nearly drowning in it. His daughters had fallen silent now. They perhaps could sense that the silence was what Epis needed most.
When they reached the mountain they had a small group of nymph's with them. However at once it seemed they all fled. Onicent stood on his balcony over looking Epis and when he saw them he turned and re-entered the castle. Epis brought himself and the daughters inside where they went to the throne room. Airabella was waiting for him it seemed, and upon seeing his face hers crumpled.
"My son, what has happened?" She asked, but she already on some level knew.
"These are my daughter's," he said, at once he collapsed to the floor. Airabella came forward and took him into her arms gently towing him to his own throne and setting him there.
Onicent came in then. He had looked somewhat happy until he saw Epis and Airabella. But then he saw the two girls Epis had brought. Perhaps it was something in his eyes for Airabella narrowed hers.
"These are the fine daughters of Epis?" He asked.
"Indeed," Lyris said.
"I have heard much about your voices, would you not sing for me?" Onicent sounded eager.
Looking toward her father and then back, Lyris and Hermyra started a slow and sad song. Pouring their love for their dead mother and brother into it. Epis hearing it began to wail with it and Airabella who had been hoovering over her son straightened in alarm.
"Stop it at once!" Airabella cried.
The two girls stopped abruptly. But Onicent smiled, a tear was even in his own eye. "You both possess the most charming voices I have heard."
Both girls bowed slightly.
