Ianin chased after the silverfish. But try as he might he couldn't catch the little creature. The silverfish dove into a cavern and Ianin followed it. The silverfish slivered down and down and down.

"Come back!" Ianin cried. The little creature glanced at him and kept going. Ianin was out of breath now, but finally it stopped in front of a wall. Out of the wall a couple more creatures sprung. They hissed to eachother back and forth. Both of the new silverfish glanced at Ianin. Then they were all moving again.

Ianin had to run to keep up with them, all around him more and more silverfish joined the scurry they were headed somewhere. Ianin was practically tripping over their tiny bodies. Then they all stoped. They let out a collective hiss at a flat section of wall. Then they all started to hop into the blocks.

Ianin looked uncertainly at the wall, he didn't have any way to break through. His little friend nudged him repeatedly and then hopped through the wall. Ianin remembered how it felt to transform his body into a dolphin, then imagined being a silverfish. Slowly he shrunk down.

Ianin the silverfish wiggled his tail in wonder. It felt more natural than being a dolphin even. He then slivered to the wall and hopped into it. He swam through the block until he came out the other side. He was in a massive room, the silverfish hovered at the sides and peeked out blocks. In the middle was a single odd looking block. Ianin grew back to full size and approached it carefully.

It was colourful, he ran his hands over it and discovered he could move parts of it. He tried pulling on part of it and something  rectangular came free. He stared at the object, shifting it in his hands. It seemed to be openable. He opened it and saw strange symbols, but then they came into sharp focus. He understood their meanings now, they seemed to tell a story of some sort.

Something suddenly startled him. He looked across the room. Something else was in the wall, it was not a silverfish. He watched as the silverfish disappeared and all that was left was his friend.

He put the object back and walked to the wall. Something told him the right thing to do was to press his hands to it. He felt a rush of cold when he did that. The room seemed to fill with screeching wind, Ianin's hair was whipped around his head, but kept his hands on the wall pressing harder and harder. At once it stopped.

Ianin turned around to see a shape forming next to him. The shape shifted into a body, but it seemed fragile and ghostlike.

"Who are you?" it asked. It's voice echoed around the chamber.

"No one.. I mean I'm Ianin." he stuttered.

"How did you find this place Ianin?" it seemed to turn around. "The wall scurriers showed you?"

"Yes."

"I was the keeper of knowledge."

"Was?"

"You are the keeper of knowledge now, I give you my gift." The form said. It reached out and touched Ianin's forehead. The touch was cold, but forth from it came a flow of energy.

Ianin felt as through he was glowing. When it all stopped Ianin blinked. Before him the shape had formed into a girl. She was tiny and frail looking, like any moment she could break. Her skin was a snowy white and her eyes were the same. Hair snaked down her front nearly reaching the floor, behind her was a short trail of hair which was thinned it seemed. She looked weary, Ianin was tempted to give her an arm.

"How did you get here?" Ianin asked. She seemed to sway and he reached out and steadied her.

"You are," she drew in a breath, "kind, not like others." She seemed to study Ianin, "your kindness is pure for you do so without hesitation. I am Araia, and I know not how I got here."

Araia let off a great shiver suddenly. Ianin scrambled to keep her upright.

"Let me take you to my sister, or my cousin, they will be able to help you." Ianin pleaded.

"It is no use, I can not leave this room." She continued with a small smile, "I suppose you are my keeper as well."

Ianin took a torch out of his inventory and placed it down. The girl looked startled but moved to be closer to it.

"It will keep you warm until we can find a way to free you."

Araia just shook her head.
