Chapter Thirty: Taking A Bit of My Human Life

She fell asleep soundly on him as he hums the song that brought his thought to life. She made him promised to be here when she wakes up and Damian wishes that as well. He wishes to be the one who would be right here by her side when she wakes up, sleep, eat and do whatever.

It was funny how she would always put such a strong front but whenever Damian softly touches the curtains of her act, it would just fall down. Her true self would be behind that curtain at she would jump into his arms happily. Damian liked that a lot. Damian loves the fact that that could be true but this paradise would not last. A long and painful journey awaits them and he wasn’t sure if she could walk it with him. He didn’t want her to be in pain. He didn’t want her to suffer.

Slowly, he lays her head down on the pillow and softly sneaks out of the room. The meeting must have already started without him but it worries him. To put two Damns and a devil together with a room full of Grimm isn’t a very good idea. They might end up fighting. Quickly, he steps down the stairs. Already, he could hear those men arguing and the heavy atmosphere.

‘Oh, Eric, you cannot be serious! We are not going to work with the Damn!’ A voice to familiar said. Damian hated that voice for some reason he didn’t know, he felt a stomach filled with jealousy waiting to burst. ‘They are Damns. I do not care what Damian is, I cannot let her be with such a playboy!’ That voice was clearly Chad’s. Damian hissed walked into the room with anger in his eyes. He glared at the boy with much hate. The boy did not flinch nor did he back off, instead he stared back at Damian furiously. ‘I would not let you hurt her!’ Chad added.

Damian didn’t speak but turn away from Chad like he was a child speaking brainless words. Chad leaped to attack Damian but was instantly stopped by Dominic. ‘You know for a kid like you, you sure have guts to try to attack Damian.’ Dominic said. Chad groans with anger and pushed Dominic aside. ‘Damian, you and me outside!’ Chad shouted. Damian hated how inconsiderate that boy was acting. Shane had finally fallen asleep and he had to shout out his thoughts. Damian didn’t even need to try hard to read his mind to know what that boy was thinking. Chad wanted to know why Shane would choose Damian but not him. Damian couldn’t help but laughed at his stupidity.

‘What the fuck are you laughing at?’ Chad asked in a harsh tone. ‘I wouldn’t waste my time, boy.’ Damian said as he walked towards the sofa. ‘Don’t fucking call me boy! I am older than you by 3 years! Why are you scared?’ Chad said in a very sarcastic way but it didn’t affect Damian. ‘Why would he be scared?’ Dominic laughed. Chad threw himself towards Dominic and begin kicking and punching. Dominic cursed and begins hitting Chad hard enough to make his forehead bleed. Allure was cheering for Dominic happily and the two Grimms didn’t like the situation at all. Damian felt the anger when he could hear Dominic and Chad’s body hitting on the furniture in the room. It was obviously loud. Damian turned around and used telekinetic force to push both of them apart. ‘Enough! Shane is finally asleep and I hope to keep her that way!’ Damian said. His voice is low and harsh. Both of them struggle in Damian’s force but slowly relax.

Suddenly, Damian felt a jabbing pain in his heart and instantly he let go of the force and his hands flew to his body when the pain moves all over his body. He fell to the ground and groans out in pain. He could feel blood coming out from his nose and he could barely breathe. His siblings came running to him and his body still burned in pain. Damn it! Why is this happening now? Damian thought.

‘Damn it, Damian! Unless you want to die faster, stop using your powers. Your power is draining this human life!’ Dominic said sternly as he pulled Damian on to the sofa. Damian nodded but he still couldn’t breathe. Damian jolted up when he felt his heart clenches even more and his lungs screaming for air. One of Damian’s hands flew to his mouth when he begins coughing. Blood begin flowing out and he felt Amy rushed towards him. ‘What do you mean human life?’ Eric said in confusion despite of Damian’s pain. ‘Oh Grimm cannot be more stupid. You have been slaying Damns and yet you have no idea about our life.’ Allure said.

Damian finally stops coughing and the pain slowly reduced until he could endure it. ‘When a Damn is born, they are born in a form of a human body. This human body contain the Damn’s soul. When the Damn’s soul reaches maturity, their power would begin corroding the human body of theirs. Then, the Damn would be sick but not as sick as him. That is because that Damn is young and his power isn’t as strong as Damian’s.’ Sebastian finally spoke. ‘Damian is two years younger than me. That means his powers are as strong as mind.’ Sebastian added.

‘Because of that, this body corrodes faster and if he used too much of his power this body would die faster.’ Dominic said. His tone was concerning which made Damian curious if he really did care.

‘Well, if you die faster, than I can kill you faster.’ Chad said his tone harsh. ‘I think you have forgotten one important thing here, Damian is linked to Shane by the Soul Chain. If he dies, she dies. The most important thing is, he cannot be out of this shell yet, because if he does, father would be coming for his soul.’ Dominic said in an are-you-stupid-tone. ‘So? It is none of my concern.’ Chad said. Both Allure and Dominic rolled their eyes together which made Damian chuckled although it still hurt. ‘Hello, is there a brain in there?’ Allure asked. ‘You know why you can’t let the devil, AKA my father, have Damian’s soul right?’

‘Whatever!’ Chad said angrily. ‘Enough, we should start with the planning.’ Eric said.

Damian gives his idea to them and they all also agreed. Sebastian agreed to look for the others whom are still on his side. Eric agrees to help them as long as they do not feed on the living. It may be a little difficult for Sebastian and the other two but he hopes this would make out well. The people had to be gathered here in the Grimm territory so that his father would have no idea what are they planning about but Damian also fear that Damn and the Grimm cannot cooperate well together. As for Allure, she is going to be the one that would suck Damian’s life out enough to weaken him so that his human life would end faster than scheduled. Although Allure was really anticipating the whole sucking his life up idea, he didn’t want to be bedridden just yet. He asked for a week to be with Shane and everyone, even Eric agreed.

The only thing left to do was to make sure his father not the Devil but his human father would not be too worried. Damian knew that he cannot be mysteriously healed after so many days in the hospital, so Damian decided to lie and tell his father that he is only staying in Dominic’s place for a month because it would be much more convenient for his project to be done. Which was kind of stupid as well but Damian could only think of this.

After a long night of discussion, Damian finally gets to have his rest. And as promised to Shane, he would have to be there for her in the morning. It was already seven in the morning and Damian felt his whole body sore in pain and his heart still clenches a little in pain. He knew he would have to be sleeping the whole day.

Softly and slowly, he climbs into the bed and lay quietly next to Shane. She stirred in closer to him when she felt his presence and Damian couldn’t help but smile. He closed his eyes and let the tiredness drift his pain away.
