Chapter 24: I Am Thankful For...

“Alright since no one is willing to go first I will!” Adam’s mom said.

“I am thankful for starting a new life. It’s been 2 or 3 years since me and Adam moved here and it’s been a blast and I love being here.” Adam’s mom said.

“Awww..that’s so sweet!” Connie’s mom said.

“I’m also thankful for this little dude right here.” Adam’s mom said as she hugs Adam.

“Mom! Really?” Adam said. “Hug me now or I eat your drumsticks.” She said in a serious tone.

“YES MA’AM HAHAH I LOVE MY MOM SO MUCH!” Adam said hugging his mom back.

“This is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.” Luke said.

“Do you want to die?” Adam glares at Luke. Luke frantically shakes his head.

“Luke your next!” Adam’s mom said. “Oh me? Well..I am thankful for being able to have a lot of fun with everyone I met.” Luke said.

“I’m thankful for meeting you Brittany, now please let us dating and ki- GAH!” Luke feels a sharp pain in his stomach.

“In your dreams lover boy.” Brittany said, he elbowed him again.

This shouldn't come as a surprise anymore. “Damn..one day we’ll date..” Luke said.

Brittany laughs, “Moving on, who’s next?” Brittany asked.

“How about you Brittany? I mean you are now talking so might as well.” Adam said.

“Alright then.” Brittany said. She clears her throat and begins.

“I’m thankful for meeting all of you guys and being able to have so much fun and many more to come. I’m thankful for being able to have my best friend Connie, be my best friend! Love ya Connie!” Brittany said in sign.

“Brittanyyyy!” Connie said in sign as she gets up and hugs her.

“Now that..is a girl friendship. So beautiful.” Adam said as one single tear fell from his face.

“How about you..I never got your name.” Adam’s mom said.

Mom is referring to Connie’s mom. “Oh it’s Janet. Nice to meet you.” Janet said.

“Nice to meet you! I’m Julia.” She said. “What are you thankful for Janet?” Julia asked.

“I’m thankful for meeting you just now, same to all of you kids..and for having my beautiful daughters. I love both of you!” Janet said in sign.

“Love you too mom!” Connie said in sign.

“Thanks mom.” Lonnie said. “So much love! So jealous..” Luke said.

Adam pats Luke’s back. “Don’t worry man, One day you’ll get a girl. Brittany..” Adam said.

“One day.” Brittany laughed. “Lonnie? You're up.” Julia said.

“I am thankful for protecting my sister from scummy boys. And everything else.” Lonnie said as she looked at Adam.

Thank god I’m not scum...so scary. “Is that everything?” Julia asked.

“Yes. Connie, you're up.” Lonnie said in sign. “Oh ok! Um..” Connia said in sign, thinking.

“I’m thankful for meeting you guys and having fun with you all. I’m making so many great memories with you all, and I hope to make so much more!” Connie said in sign, smiling.

This girl..She’s so worth it. I love her so damn much..Wait love? That’s..No not yet, there’s no way I love her yet..right..? I mean yeah I like her a lot but..Love? I..haven’t felt love since Amber..

“That was so sweet!!” Luke said, bailing his eyes out.

“Dude stop crying..But it was so sweet..” Brittany said as she started tearing up.

Connie smiles at everyone, then looks at Adam.

“You're the final one Adam. What are you thankful for?” Connie asked in sign.

Me..? I can’t even think straight cause I don’t know if I love you or not damn it! I can’t think about that right now.

“I..I’m thankful for being able to be given this second chance..to be able to smile again and have fun with the people I met and care about deeply.” Adam said that as she looked at Connie, smiling.

Connie turns beet red and looks down. He stops looking at her and continues.

“I’ve never felt this way before in..a long time..and I’m just thankful to all of you at this table for being able to be my friends.” Adam smiled.

Everyone looks at Adam with a surprised expression.

“What?” Adam asked. “It’s just..I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say something so..nice.” Luke said.

“You saying I’m not nice?!” Adam asked.

Luke nods in agreement, “Yes that is what I’m saying.” Luke said.

“Whatever..Let’s enjoy our food!” Adam said.

“Happy Thanksgiving!” Everyone said. They all started digging into their food and they were in love.

“Oh my god..Mom you're such a good cook..” Adam said.

“Oh thank you honey!” Julia said as she’s eating her food like a wolf.

“But you don’t have many manners..” Adam mumbled.

-1 HOUR LATER-

“Holy shit..” Brittany said. “So full..yet..so worth it..” Adam said.

All their plates are empty, they ate everything.

“Wow you guys were hungry, how about some dessert?” Connie said in sign, smiling.

“No..can’t..gonna puke..” Adam said. He slowly gets up from his seat and he hears his stomach punching him, making him want to puke.

“Oh fuck..bathroom!!” Adam said as he rushed inside and into the bathroom.

He flips the toilet lid and pukes. “Oh fuck..That felt good..” Adam said.

He turns on the sink to rinse out his mouth and splash some water in his face.

“WHEW! Okay. Feeling better.” Adam said as he dried his face with a towel.

As he opens the door he sees Jant and Lonnie waiting for him.

“Oh, hey you two.” Adam said. “You're dating her aren’t you.” Janet said.

HUH?! “W-What do you mean?! I’m not dating C-Connie!” Adam said.

“Don’t bother Adam..I already told her.” Lonnie said.

“Lonnie! Why would yo- I-I mean..!” Adam said. Janet sighs and stops crossing her arms.

“Look Adam..I can see and tell that you and her are great together. I’m not mad and I know you aren’t a rude kid. You're sweet and kind to her..But there’s something that happened to her that doesn’t make me trust people who she likes or people liking her. Not that I don’t trust you, I can tell you aren't a piece of shit.” Janet said.

“Well..What happened? If you don’t mind me asking.” Adam said.

Janet sighed and sat down, “You might wanna sit down for this..” She said.

Adam closed the bathroom door and sat down. “I’m listening.” Adam said.

“It started 3 years ago, before we moved here…”
