Cahpter 16: Welcome Back Sweetie!

"Alright, everyone! Today is the day we head back to school. I hope everyone has had a great time here. Get on the buses, " the teacher said. 

Everyone got on the buses; Adam grabbed a window seat and sat down. Connie sits right beside him. 

"Damn, what a cold morning," Adam said. Adam grabs a hoodie from his bag and puts it on. Adam turns to look at Connie, who is shivering. 

Adam grabs another hoodie from his bag and puts it on Connie. "There, " Adam says in a sign. Connie looks at Adam and smiles. "Thank you, " Connie says in a sign. 

Now we're both comfy. Adam grabs his earbuds, plugs them into his phone, and plays some chill music as he stares out the window. 

Man, what a crazy three days it's been. Well, I'm just glad I've got her in my life now. I've never felt so happy. 

Adam looks at Connie, who's just looking around the bus and out the windows. She turns to him and smiles. 

Heh. That smile gets me every time. Adam wraps his arm around Connie. "H-Huh? Adam?" Connie says in a sign. 

"Even with these hoodies, I'm too cold. I figured body heat would be helpful," Adam said in sign, smiling. 

Connie turns bright red, "O-Okay!" Connie said in sign, leaning into Adam. Whoa..he's...so warm. I could..fall asleep right now... 

Connie yawns and closes her eyes as she leans into Adam. "Heh. So sleepy, " Adam says. Luke turns behind and sees Adam and Connie. 

"Hey," Luke said. Adam gets his earbuds out of his ears. "Hey, man," Adam said. "Is she passed out?" Luke asked.

"Like a light. She looks so cute when she's asleep." Adam said. "So, did it happen? Did you ask?" Luke asked. 

"Yeah," Adam said. "Well? You two dating?" Luke asked, waiting with excitement. Adam gives him a thumbs-up with a manly face. 

"YES! FINA- Gah!" Luke said. Brittany elbowed Luke in the chest. "Keep it down, she's sleeping," Brittany said. 

"Oh god, you wounded me.." Luke said, falling back into the bus seat. "Congrats, Adam. How do you feel?" Brittany asked.

 "Thanks, and honestly? I'm happy. Very happy. I've never felt this way before, and I'm glad she's in my life again," Adam said. 

"I'm happy for you two. I'll let you guys know when we're back, okay?" Brittany said. Why? I'm not tired. I can stay away—" Adam falls asleep. 

"Called it," Brittany said. Brittany looks down at Luke. 

"..still wounded.." Luke said. Brittany laughs, "Oh, your fine lover, boy." Brittany said. 

-4 HOURS LATER-

All the buses stop at the school, and the doors swing open. "Alright, everyone, we're back, which means off the bus!" the teacher said.  

"Wake up, you two," Luke said. Adam and Connie were fast asleep. Connie was leaning into Adam, and Adam was lying his head on Connie's head. 

"My god, that looks comfy," Luke said. "Hey Brittany, why don't we d-" Brittany elbowed Luke in the stomach. "Maybe later." Brittany laughed. 

"Jesus, you hurt," Luke said. This is true. Now let's wake these two up," Brittany said. She got out of her seat and walked over to Adam and Connie. 

"Hey, wake up," Brittany said. With the blink of an eye, they woke up. "YES, MA'AM!" Adam said. "PLEASE SPARE US!" Connie said in sign. 

Luke's mouth has dropped to the floor, "What the fuck." Luke said. Brittany smiled, "This is what I like to call "Being responsible and kind" something you can't do." Brittany laughed. 

"Your words hurt me!" Luke said. "Tell me you're just joking, right?" Adam asked. "Yeah, I am," Brittany said. 

"Thanks for waking us up," Connie said in sign. "Of course! As much as I wanted to keep you two there. You both looked so damn adorable!" Brittany said in sign. 

Adam and Connie turn red. "Anyway, grab your bags, guys; it's time to get off, " Brittany says. They nod and grab their bags. 

Everyone gets off the bus, and the buses drive away. "Did everyone have fun?" the teacher asked. Everyone nodded in agreement.

 "Great! Because I have better news for you people, " the teacher said. "What does he mean?" Adam asked. Luke shrugged his shoulder. 

"For today but today only, I will let all of you go home early!" The teacher said. Everyone started cheering in happiness. 

"You know how to treat us right!" one student said. "Hey, but why, though? " another student asked. 

"That's simple. Because tomorrow is Halloween!" the teacher said. Oh, hell, yeah!" Adam said. I'm in a good mood also, so that's why. But for tomorrow, There will be no school because of Halloween. I hope everyone dresses up for tomorrow! Have a good day, " the teacher said. 

The students started walking either to their houses or someone else's house to hang out. "Halloween, huh?" Brittany said in sign. 

"I love Halloween! It's very fun to dress up," Connie said in the sign. I just love getting candy! I mean, it's free! And dressing up. I like that too," Adam said in the sign.

"Seems like someone is excited for tomorrow," Luke said. "Halloween is my favorite time of the year. Spooky things are about. Horror movies are playing. Just everything about is hella fun." Adam said. 

"Any ideas for what you're gonna dress up as Connie?" Brittany asked in sign. "Nothing comes to mind yet. I'll think of something!" Connie said in a sign, smiling. 

"How about you, Luke?" Brittany asked. "I don't know yet," Luke said. "Adam?" Brittany asked. "I want something scary; that's all I want," Adam said. 

"So nothing comes to mind for any of you. I got it," Brittany said. Yeah, well, what about you then?" Luke asked. 

"Me? Well, that's easy! I'm going to be..um..uh." Brittany said. "That's what I thought," Adam said. "You shut it! All you want is something scary!" Brittany said. 

"True," Adam said. "Alright, let's break for now and think about it. How about that?" Luke asked. 

Brittany looks at Luke and puts her hand on his shoulder. "Ya know, Luke," Brittany said. "Yeah?" Luke asked. 

"That might be the smartest idea I've heard from you." Brittany smiled. "Oh then- HEY WAIT, I DON'T HAVE SMART IDEAS?! I'M NOT THAT STUPID, YA KNOW!" Luke said. 

"Eh. You kinda are." Brittany laughed. "Damn you and your words.." Luke said. "But that is smart. Once we think of something we can wear, let's go to the Halloween store and get what we want." Adam said in sign. 

"That's a great idea, Adam!" Connie said in sign. "Yeah, good job," Brittany said in sign. "IT WASN'T EVEN HIS IDEA DAMN IT!" Luke said. 

The four break and walk to their houses. "Tomorrow is going to be one hell of a day, " Adam says. 

-A FEW MINUTES LATER-

"Hey, mom! I'm back." Adam closes his front door and walks in. "SWEETIE!! I MISSED YOUUUUU!" His mom comes running down the stairs and hugging Adam. 

"Nice to see you too, Mom." Adam laughs. "How was the trip?" Mom asks. It was great; I had lots of fun, " the dam says. 

"I'm glad to hear it! Are you hungry? Dinner's ready," Mom said. "No thanks; I'm not hungry, Mom. Thank you, though." Adam smiled. 

"Alright, honey. I'm glad you're back!" Mom said. "Thanks," Adam said. Adam walked up the stairs and opened his door. 

"Home sweet room," Adam said, flopping on his bed. "Oh, how I've missed your bed," Adam said. Man. 

Halloween is already tomorrow. Fuck I'm excited. I don't know what I want to be, though. I need to think about that. 

For now, though, sleep because I want to sleep. Adam closes his eyes and drifts to sleep.
