Chapter 34: The Festival

-BEEP BEEP BEEP-

“Uggh..” Adam mumbled as he reached for his phone to turn off his alarm.

“Damn..it’s too early..” Adam said.  I stayed up hella late because I was excited for the festival..damn it..Speaking of when is that..?

“ADAAAAAM! Get up!” Julia yelled from downstairs.

“But whyyyy?!” Adam asked. “Because the festival is today! Now hurry up and eat some breakfast!” Adam immediately got up and put on some fresh clothes and ran downstairs as he sat down.

“Food now please!” Adam said. Julia chuckles as she hands him a plate.

“Finally energized huh?” Julia asked. Adam nods as he eats the food.

“Excited much? Calm down kid.” Julia laughs. Adam finishes his plate and rushes to the kitchen.

“Sorry mom but I need to make it to school!” Adam said as he put his plate in the sink.

“Wow you're actually going early. Surprising.” Julia said.

“Oh shush!” Adam said, grabbing his bag.

“Have a great day today honey. And enjoy yourself at the festival.” Julia smiled and waved at Adam.

“Heh, I will mom! Love you.” Adam waved as he closed the door behind him.

“Go get her son.” Julia said. As Adam is walking to school he bumps into Luke along the way there.

“Oh hey man.” Adam said. “Morning! You ready?” Luke said.

“Ready as I’ll ever be.” Adam said. “Let’s get to school then.” Luke said as he started running towards the school gate.

“Ay wait up!” Adam said as he followed Luke. 

-A FEW MINUTES LATER-

“Ha holy shit..I beat ya..” Luke said. “Yeah that’s only cause you got a head start.” Adam said.

What started as just two friends walking to school turned into a full on race. How things have turned.

“Pure luck all the way.” Adam said. “Oh yeah, Wanna go again buddy?!” Luke said. Adam laughs and shakes his head.

“Later man, right now we need to focus on what's important even though you’d lose.” Adam said.

“You’re right, Let’s settle this later and get to class, like hell I’d lose.” Luke said.

The two boys walked to class buckering on who’d win in a race.

Adam opened the door to the class and sat down in his seat. “Ah, Welcome Mr. Dewit and Mr. Brawn. Today is gonna be quite eventful.” The teacher said.

“I agree.” Luke said. Soon after all the students are in their seats and the bell rings.

”Alright listen up class, as you may all know today is the school festival. The festivities will begin after school and will last until 8:00 p.m. So get prepared cause it’s gonna be fun!” The teacher said.

The students cheered and were full of excitement.

“God I can’t wait to see the fireworks.” One student said. “I heard there’s tons of booths to go to.” Another student said.

Adam looks around at all the students who are talking to one another and are full of excitement.

So much is happening. I’ll be able to enjoy the festival once I end this distance between me and Connie.
