Chapter 60

Sabrina was breathing heavily as she made her way towards the school gate. She had been crying for a few minutes and she couldn't stop sobbing. The incident just blew her mind. Her exhausted body started to shiver as the cold wind brushed through her skin.

She was walking slowly—not even bothering if her tears spread nor dried up across her face. Her lips became reddish as she kept biting it for too long to prevent herself from crying, but it was useless. She couldn't think of any possible ways to prevent herself from crying. All she felt was being unimportant and unlovable by most of the people.

She felt ashamed and humiliated. Every negative feelings were visible at her. She felt hopeless, upset and most of all terrified. Terried that someday she would find herself alone—without anyone anymore, but herself.

"Nasaan na kaya siya?" tanong ni Eunice sa sarili niya habang nililibot ang mga mata niya sa loob ng school gate.

Nang makita niya si Sabrina na mabagal na naglalakad at nakayuko, doon niya napagtantong hindi maganda ang naging kalabasan ng pag-uusap nina Glenn at Sabrina. Nahulaan na ni Eunice ang maaaring mangyari kay Sabrina. It broke her heart more than Sabrina, she felt devastated.

"Sabrina..." all she did was to whisper her name while glancing at her.

She slowly raised her right hand where she could seemingly touch Sabrina. Her hand began trembling as she began to imagine an image of Sabrina's face in her mind—upset and miserable.

Sabrina managed to walk near Eunice. She still got her arms wrapped around her—trying to comfort herself and blocking the cold wind from her body. She slowly lifted her head up and took a glance at Eunice who had been worrying about her.

Sabrina's eyes began to shed tears again and Eunice heard a sob from her. "Eunice!" She cried out in pain. Agad niyang nilapitan si Eunice at niyakap nang mahigpit at gano'n din naman ang ginawa ni Eunice sa kanya.

"S-sana nakinig... na lang a-ako... sa'yo..."

"Sabrina, tahan na." Eunice began stroking Sabrina's back gently while smiling.

She understood how awful it was for Sabrina, but for the sake of her peace, she must move on.

"It's okay to make mistake, we're human beings," bulong niya rito.

"N-no one... loves me..." tugon ni Sabrina habang humihikbi.

Ipinagtaka ni Eunice ang narinig niya mula kay Sabrina at mas lalong nasaktan dahil maling-mali ang nabanggit ni Sabrina sa kanya. Eunice promised to always be there for her because she loves Sabrina. Kahit kailan, hindi niya naisipang talikuran at iwan si Sabrina dahil mahal niya ito bilang kaibigan. Matagal na rin silang magkakilala simula nang bata pa lamang sila.

She will never leave her side because she loves her. She would always be Sabrina's best friend and would never get tired attempting to change Sabrina. Patuloy niya itong sasamahan hanggang sa siya ay magbago. She was aiming to make Sabrina's life peaceful and meaningful since Sabrina had gone through a tragedy, and the only way to change herself was for her to have a guide like Eunice.

"Sabrina, kailan ba kita hindi minahal?" Eunice pulled away from Sabrina and asked.

"Kahit kailan hinding-hindi kita iiwan, you're my best friend and I am your best friend. We suffer together, we fix it together," paalala ni Eunice, napalunok siya nang makita niyang mas naluluha si Sabrina.

"Lalake lang 'yan. Family is more important."

"Wala akong... p-pamilya."

Eunice raised an eyebrow and looked at her friend with a confused expression. "Ako? Lolo't lola mo? Mga kaibigan natin? We're your family, Sabrina."

"Family doesn't always mean that you need to have a mother, a father and siblings. It can also be friends, your true friends."

"Kailangan mo nang magbago, Sabrina," Eunice demanded.

"Hindi ko 'to sinasabi para insultuhin ka, sinasabi ko 'to para mas maging mabuti na ang pamumuhay mo." Eunice's statement was a beg for Sabrina to change herself, but for Sabrina it was more like an assurance and insisting.

"Bakit? B-bakit mo... ako tinutulungan?"

Nagkaroon ng ngiti sa labi ni Eunice nang matanong iyon ni Sabrina sa kanya. "Gusto kong baguhin ka kasi ayaw kong mahirapan ka. I want you to realize how meaningful your life when you're using it in the right way."

"And of course, I love you. Bilang kaibigan mo, I won't tolerate you."

By that moment, Sabrina realized how kind Eunice was when she explained the most important life lessons to her. Kahit na masama ang ugali niya ay may nagtitiis at nag-aalala pa rin para sa kanya at iyon ay si Eunice na tapat na nagsasabi sa kanya kung ano ang tama at mali, mabuti sa masama.

"Thank you..."

Eunice wiped Sabrina's tears on her cheeks and smiled once again. "Salamat kasi... hindi mo 'ko pinabayaan at... tinutulungan mo akong magbago," tugon ni Sabrina.

"Oo naman, gusto kong mapabuti ka. Ayaw kong nilalait ka ng iba kasi ang nakikita lang nila sa'yo ay ang masamang ikaw na sumisira sa buhay ng iba." Napabuntong hininga si Sabrina nang marinig ang sagot ni Eunice.

"I hope you've learned something from this occurrence. Sana magbago ka na, Sabrina."

She stared at Sabrina's eyes. "We will never know when will be our last day on earth, our last breath, our last blink of our eyes, and the last beat of our heart."

"Don't make your life miserable and don't think that you're unimportant. Each of us were born because we are the chosen ones to make things right and make peace in this world full of sorrow and tragedy."

"I am slowly learning new things. Some are from my experiences, but mostly are from you," Sabrina confidently answered, but more like a confession and compliment for Eunice.

"If you want to change, I want you to speak to Alishabeth about this. Have her forgiveness."

A mission was given by Eunice. If Sabrina would be able to do it, the jealousy and insecurities would be removed from her and it would be a great help for her to improve herself.

"Tanggalin mo 'yang hinanakit sa puso mo, inggit at iba pa."

"Patatawarin... kaya ako ni... Alisha?" tanong niya sa sarili niya ngunit mabilis itong sinagot ni Eunice.

"Mabait si Alisha, sigurado akong mapapatawad ka niya and take that as your opportunity to start your new life. Leave your miserable and not so helpful life in the past."

Sabrina began to worry about the outcome, she remembered Glenn again. She really do love him, but destiny already marked her faith, specifying that they weren't meant for each other.

"I will always be here no matter what happens. I am your friend, ready to help you in any state of affairs," a promise said by Eunice.

"Change for the better, because it matters. Engage with improvement and see the development."
