And after a solid decision to bring the 13 year old home, Jackie spent her days peeking in at her daughter.

They planned to leave the White House for Hyannis in a day or two, when things lined up. But for now, staff rallied around the couple, knowing there daughter's time was almost up.

Kit tried her hardest to get up, to walk around, and upon hearing she'd be seeing her bestfriend, for the last time, she insisted on the swingset outside, even if it was for 10 minutes before the plane departed for her last beach trip.

It was a place where they had talked about all sorts of things, how much Kit longed to get married, Mateo's guitar horror stories, even some things that absolutely nobody knew about when it came to both of them.

The pair was 14 and 13, but Mateo knew exactly what there future would have looked like, without the given circumstances. He knew what he wanted, and only hoped what he wanted matched what Kit did.

All the staff was in on his next move, even the Kennedy's. There only job was to get Kit up, out of her bed, and onto the back lawn, all the while carrying her oxygen, feeds, and IV pole filled with her important drugs, to "surprise" her.

It turned easier said than done. Jackie took the honors to making sure she was dressed and looked somewhat nice before figuring out how to run her feeds, while she slept, something that consumed most of her time. It was only when Jack transferred her from her bed to her wheelchair that she actually woke up.

It really was too cold for Kit outside, but with a couple of blankets and both parents standing at the back door with Clipper at alert, Mateo was able to have his moment.

"Hey Teo" Kit looked at her bestfriend smiling so big as he made his way to the swings to sit with her.

"Hey KK"

"This was the first place you took me on the day that we met, my most favorite day ever." He began looking at the frail girl, who he loved dearly.

"I told you all sorts of stuff out here, and you always listened, always, always." She smiled as Mateo held her hand that shivered in the cold, even after being covered with multiple blankets.

"And KK, you have achieved almost everything you've ever told me about here. You got the First Lady and The President back together, spent lots of time with your favorite family members, swam, learned the agents job, even endured the worst accident of your life, and made your mark on all of us. Me, your parents, and the entire USA. No wonder you're getting tired." The two laughed as Mateo dug in his jacket pocket.

"I know this is our last time together, and I've thought long and hard on how to make it special. And well, Kathleen Rose Kennedy, will you do me the honor of marrying me?" He smiled as tears came down Kit's cheeks.

"Of course I will! It's what I've always wanted Teo!" She looked at the ring, holding up her hand strongly to the sun to see the real diamond, that the Kennedy's had paid for like it was her real wedding ring.

"Oh great, I was so nervous!" He breathed normally looking to Kit, showing her his ring.

"Your parents, they got these for us, your mommy designed them." They both looked at them closely, finding the fine details in each ring.

"They're beautiful Teo, all that I've ever wanted, thanks to you" She smiled so bright as the sun hit the two's new rings.

"And it's not over yet. Can I have this dance?" He stood up as Kathleen's face fell.

"I'll help you.." He whispered as she nodded yes with that fact.

He got her up and supported her fully while her head laid on the crook of his neck as the agents got music playing.

Jackie, Jack, Ann, and Clipper stood at the back door, both mothers getting plenty of pictures, savoring the moment.

Mateo stroked her hair, tears welling up in his eyes.

"Teo?" Kit looked up to her newfound "husband" to see his crocodile tears.

"Oh Teo, don't cry for me." She wiped his tears and put her forehead on his.

"Aren't you scared?" He tried to not make this about him looking to Kit as they swayed back and forth.

"Of dieing? No. I probably should be, but I'm not, I'm ready to go, after all, you've given me everything I could want." She smiled weakly at him as he cried.

"How am I supposed to live without my bestfriend?" He whispered in her ear as she gripped tighter.

"Well, the way I see it. It'll hurt at first, but you'll move on Mateo, you'll get older, get remarried, have kids, and forget. But that's okay, you need to forget, forget to be happy, to live happily." He began to cry harder as Kit pulled away.

"I love you" She kissed him gently, the two's first & only kiss ever.

"I love you too K, so much, you'll always be the girl for me." He smiled beginning to put her back into her wheelchair.

"And Teo, I give you full permission to forget, but also at the same time, remember, don't remember that I'm gone, remember all the good times, remember tonight, because this, this is and always will be the best night of my life." She said looking up to him as he wheeled her back to the doors, where both sets of parents scrambled as Clipper continued to sit right at the door, trying to make it look like they weren't looking.

"You guys can come out!" Kit laughed as the four appeared again.

"Mateo, get down with Kit, we need pictures!" Ann said cheerfully as both women took the polaroid pictures, all of them turning out beautifully.

"The Jet is ready" Jack said, hooking his walkie talkie back to his belt.

Mateo helped her back inside, and to were she needed to be, before saying goodbye forever.

"Good-"

"It's just see ya later Teo, you'll see me again, one day." Kit held his hand as he bent down to her level.

"See ya later Kathleen" He teared up again as she moved in for a last little kiss.

"I love you." She smiled, picking up his hand and looking to his ring.

"You'll always have me, always always" She grinned a little as Jack took over pushing, him watching her being transferred into one of the many cars that were going to be headed to Air Force 1.

As the door was being shut he yelled one more time,

"I love you too!", trying not to cry again.

But after watching his "wife" pull out, her waving at him, he fell into his mother's arms and cried for a girl he knew he'd never forget, no matter if he had permission or not.

He'd never forget.
