''Grandma I'm here!''
Ah, the smell of fresh-baked pastries!!
I could hear the sound of my grandma softly singing coming from the kitchen. Entering the house I dropped my bag to the floor and tossed my shoes and jacket somewhere in the small hall.
I'm starving!
A smile crept on my face noticing the whole livingroom filled with that lovely scent coming from the oven. Making my way towards the kitchen I stopped for a moment laying my eyes on a book scattered on the coffee table.
''The tales of Necromancers'' I chuckled taking a hold of the book in my head.
Man, that brings back memories.....
''Oh dear, I didn't hear you come in.'' I got startled for a moment hearing the voice of my grandma interrupt me. As I looked over my shoulder she was standing in the doorway with a baking tray in her hands. My mouth started to water at the sight of fresh Cannolis laying on top of it.
''I can't believe you still have this'' I laughed while greeting her with a kiss on the cheek.
''It's your favorite! Why would I throw it away'' She exclaimed.
My hand reached for a cannoli, but once it was under my grip I released it again letting it drop back on the tray.
''Hot!'' I hissed as I flicked my hand in the air like crazy.
''That's because I just got them out of the oven silly.'' I froze in my spot looking at her hands. Her bare hands holding the tray with no problem.
''H-How can you hold it like that!''
''That's because I'm just good with heat. You'll learn it too if you cook enough'' She chuckled before taking the tray back to the kitchen with me following behind her.
''Ah now that you mentioned the book. When I was still in middle school no library I ever found had the same book. Even when I searched for it online, where did you even get it?'' This made the room fall silent.
''From a friend.....a very long time ago'''
I see.......
The tales of Necromancers...
It was a story I remember my grandma reading it for me a lot. It was about a species that looked like humans, but with a special gift. Actually, in the book, they still got portrayed as humans, not like vampires and werewolves that were portrayed as another kind due to their shapeshifting and inhuman acts.
Necromancers were more like witches you could say. Now a day in modern times they are mostly seen as evil. Evil sorcerers who perform black magic in order to have control over death.
Mmmm the book my grandma read for me was totally different.
''Anyway, it's not really accurate if you compare it to how necromancers are portrayed now a days.''
I watched her turn to me, a slight suspicious gaze in her eyes.
''Perhaps the way they are told right now is wrong'' She replied making me scoff.
''How about both are wrong. There is no way they exist just like vampires and werewolves, fairies, water spirits you name it'' I walked my way back to the livingroom slumping onto the couch.
Man work really made me tired.
I patted the seat beside me seeing my grandma sit down next to me. She leaned forward grabbing the book from the coffee table.
