Ch 33: Precious To Me

''Mr. Hak'' Calm down Jooha he is a vampire he can hear your heartbeat. As discussed I should act like I know nothing. Nothing about the new case and nothing about vampires. I should act like a clueless human.

A small grin appeared on his face hearing my call. 

Did he notice that my heart rate shot up? Does he know that I know everything but just acting dumb?

''What a surprise to see you at the company'' I quickly tried to come up with a topic. 

''I was called in by your boss for a meeting and please'' He stepped closer slightly leaning in.

''Call me Taesung.'' I stepped backward holding tightly onto the files in my hand. 

Is this man really with them? Or is he on his own? Even so, the fact he is trying to get his hands on me is a bad thing. 

''I should get going, there is still a lot to do for the project, well then have a nice day Mr. Hak.'' I bowed my head before walking past him. 

''Have a nice day Jooha.'' Hearing him call me by my first name made a shiver run down my spine. 

Is he....up to something?

I can't believe I'm actually lying like this?!

''Ah, you really had me worried you clumsy child.'' I got choked with a hug coming from Byeol. I have been working from home now, cause it's safer, but this wasn't something I could explain to everyone. So Mr. Kang and Namgi told Byeol that I would be working from home because I broke my leg. 

I even put on a fake cast!

''So this is the new apartment you have been talking about.'' I nodded my head as she plopped herself next to me on the couch. 

Sorry, Byeol One day I will explain everything properly to you.

''Thanks for visiting.'' I couldn't help but hold onto her arm leaning myself against her figure. 

''Of course! I have been missing you  lately, so I took the day off just to visit you today.'' Hearing her say things like this made me feel even more guilty for leaving her in the dark. 

''And I'm so happy that Jooha is back in town as well!'' Jooha and Byeol are my closest friends so it's only natural for those two to know each other. 

''She told me after she is done with the project here she is going to stay for half a year to take a rest. And it overlaps with my wedding date so she wouldn't have to fly over again for the wedding.'' So much is going on right now I completely forgot about the wedding! In about 8 months the wedding will be held. Will everything be over by then? Will we be living a normal life again? 

''Ah still can't believe you're getting married. Jaejin is one lucky bastard'' I playfully slapped her arm noticing her cheeks heating up. I'm so happy for her.

Before I could say anything else I felt a fast light beam hitting my eyes. It was coming from the window giving a view of various other buildings in the city. 

''What was that?'' Byeol stood up from her spot walking her way to the window, but that beam of light never returned.

''I don't know...It felt like''

''Someone flashed the light this way.'' Byeol her expression remained serious as she stayed focused on the outside world. 

Are we being watched? Or am I just imagining things?
