Wyatt POV

"So, why don't I go make us some coffee. I know you have a lot of questions and concerns," Maureen comments while getting up and heading toward the kitchen.

"Um, yeah I think that's a good idea. I'll be right back. I need to go to the bathroom anyway," I let her know while making my way to the restroom in the room we've been sharing.

I do my business and wash up. I place my hands on both sides of the sink, take a deep breath, look up into the mirror, and ask myself 'What the hell just happened? Was that really real? That was really Maureen?  The person who has helped me? Who I like? Shit!! Ok, go back in there and talk to her.' I splash some cold water on my face and head toward the kitchen.

Maureen is leaning against the counter, waiting for the coffee to finish brewing. She looks up at me when I enter and offers a small smile.

"How are you holding up?" I hear her ask me while she begins to pour coffee into some rather large ceramic mugs. Wow, she must be anticipating a long talk with A LOT of coffee by the looks of the mugs and amount of coffee made! Well, I don't think she is wrong though.

"Um, Ok I think. So far, no screaming, fainting, or throwing things. Yeah, so no freaking out or total break down so there's a plus," I lightly chuckle, hoping it comes across as humorous and light-hearted to lift the mood since she seems a bit tense.

She offers a slight nervous giggle, "Well that's one way to look at it I guess. Would you like to sit at the table or couch?"

I think for a moment and suggest, "Couch." We grab our mugs and settle onto the couch, facing each other with our backs leaning comfortably against the arm rest.

"Wyatt, you can ask me anything. I know this is a shock to you ...

"Oh, that is an understatement Maureen. To say this is a shock, um to say at the very least is um, yeah. I mean,  maybe you're married, have a child, moving out of the country but never that you can change into a huge  wolf," I ramble. "I have so many questions swirling in my head that I don't know where to begin."

"Are you afraid of me?" she ask me.

"No, no surprisingly I'm not afraid of you. I'm shocked but not afraid," I huff out while peering down at my coffee.

I hear her release a loud sigh. "That's a relief. Wyatt, you can honestly ask me anything. I will  answer any questions you have for me. When you can't think of one I will help fill in the gaps. If you think of one at anytime in the future, just ask. Don't feel like you have to ask everything right now. Ok Wyatt?"

"Ok, that sounds fair Maureen. Um, you changed into a wolf. Ok, so please don't take this the wrong way. What exactly are you? I mean, you morphed into a beautiful wolf. Can you change in any large animal or only a wolf? How did that happen? Were you born that way or were you changed? Sorry, I'm just carrying on and throwing lots of questions at you at the same time. I'm going to be quiet now."

"That's ok Wyatt. I'm a werewolf. I was born this way. People can be turned into a werewolf but mostly we are born this way. Yes, I change, or shift as we more commonly call it, but only into a wolf, nothing else. I have a wolf presence inside of me and her name is Shelia. She is a part of me yet she has a personality all her own. You will meet her soon and will learn more about her gradually. One of the best ways to tell if she is on control is by looking at my eyes. The more Shelia is present the brighter my eyes will glow. When she is on total control my eyes will glow the brightest. She really would like to say hi and meet you right now. Do you mind? She is really pacing in my head."
