Chapter 16- Court, Part 2

Court House, 11:00am

" All rise. The Honorable Allison Bailey. Court is now in session."

"Be seated", she instructs. "We are here to sentence Scott Walters for the assault on Wyatt Smith. I see you have changed your plea Mr.  Walters. Well, I think that is a smart idea due to the overwhelming evidence I have before me. I have reviewed several factors regarding this case and your sentence. There is a lot to consider. For example, the victim's statement. It is extremely powerful, heartbreaking actually. The brutality of your assault on Mr. Smith, your nephew, is appalling, truly repulsive. Evidence has also been presented that show your nephew has medical indicators which point to this type of "occurrence" happening, a lot by the looks of the x-rays. His victim statement appears to collaborate those medical indicators. So, based on that I am inclined to believe you will not hesitate to repeat your actions. The victim's statement also included information about a trust, stolen money, and false, forged documents. The witness statement by Ms. Silva was very poignant as well. Mr. Walters, are you alright? You look like you're about to be sick?"

"I'm ok, Your Honor", he nervously replies while shuffling in his chair.

Judge Bailey continues, "So, to clarify Mr. Walters. You admit to severely beating your nephew, Wyatt Smith to  the point of unconsciousness?",  she ask him.

He quietly answers with a "Yes."

"I'm sorry Mr. Walters. Can you please speak up for the record?", she points out.

"Yes, I did beat him", he comment with his voice cracking.

"Thank you. Also, I'm going to ask you point blank Mr. Walters. Did you, with the help of a Mr. Justin Case, steal money from the trust of Mr. Wyatt Smith?", the judge ask.

He took a deep breath while looking at his fingers. Then, he looked up and stated, "Yes, Your Honor I did."

"Good, I'm glad to hear you gave me an honest answer especially since I have so much evidence in front of me that indicates you did. I have also been informed that Mr. Case is currently being served with an arrest warrant. So, you may be facing a case regarding that situation soon. This is very enlightening though. Mr. Case  appears to have falsified documents and withdrew more money than was allowed."

Mr. Walters confirmed, "Yes, Your Honor. That is correct."

Judge Bailey continued, "So now, Mr. Smith was not provided for through the trust money as intended and you stole most of it thus leaving him with considerable less for his 18yr birthday payout, correct?"

"Yes, Your Honor", he admits.

Wyatt POV

I'm nervously here listening to what the judge has to say to Uncle Scott! She is asking him questions about the assault and the trust. I'm basically  floored to hear him admit to what he has done. I actually never expected him admit to anything and to fight, kicking and screaming about him being innocent! I think Uncle Scott thought this would be no big deal and he would get off easy. It doesn't seem to going that way though. He was once relaxed face has slowly started getting a sick look. HAHAHAHA!  This is somewhat funny to me for some reason. I look over to Maureen and she gives a smile and reassuring nod. Although I hate she has to be reminded of the assault since she was the one who found me but I'm glad she is here. For some reason I feel calm, more at peace whenever she is near me. I better pay attention to the judge. I think she is about to finish.
