Maureen POV

"Now Wyatt, I need you to understand something. What we found out about your grandma, uncle, and aunt came about by a team of private investigators. Unfortunately, your family has created a mess for themselves and therefore you as well. Whether through willful ignorance, greed, or violence their actions have brought us to today. Also, remember your parents tried their best and you were only 6yrs old when they died. Ok, here we go. So, your parents had life insurance policies to provide for you in case something happened to them, which unfortunately it did. Now, your parents each had a life insurance policy in addition to accidental death policies attached to their car insurance policies and policies through their banks. The total amount came to $825,000!

"WHAT?! Oh shit! Seriously?!", Wyatt exclaimed.

I just nod my head at him knowing his is shocked and to give him time to let this information sink in before I continue.

'Wow, that much?! They always acted like I was such a financial burden to them. Always talking about how much more money they would have if I wasn't around. Shit!!", he grumbles, then takes a deep breath. "Sorry, please continue."

"It's ok Wyatt. So, your parents had a will too and in the will it was requested that all the money from all the policies be placed into a trust so as to last as long as possible to provide for your needs. In that will your Grandma Jean, who was your Dad's mom, was named your guardian and if she was unable to fill that role then it would go to your mom's cousin, Katherine James. It also adamantly stated that your Dad's sister Cheryl and her husband Scott were not to watch over or keep you EVER since your parents did not trust them, period. The only thing I can figure is that you initially went to your Grandma Jean's house who later sent you to your uncle and aunt without caring about your parents' wishes. When Ms. James was contacted by the investigative team she stated she had no idea you were no longer with your Grandma Jean. She said she had tried to stay in contact with your Grandma Jean yet your grandma cut contact off and she ultimately lost your whereabouts. She was very upset actually when she found out you had been sent to your uncle and aunt's house. She said your mom had told her how much she loathed your aunt uncle since she had seen them violently fight several times. Now, since there was no one really monitoring you after you were sent to your Grandma Jean's house and she cut ties with Katherine there was no one to enforce the will's request. It took time to get all the paperwork filed, the trust set up, etc. so by the time the trust was finally completed and money was starting to be dispersed you were with your uncle and aunt. It is disgraceful that you ended up with the very people your parents stated you were not be with!"

I have to take a deep breath, then continue, "There is also the clause in their will that states the trust is to disperse $2,500.00 each month to you for expenses until you turn 18yrs old. Then, whatever is left when you turn 18 yrs old will be turned over to you to do as you wish. Now, the trust requires statements, receipts, etc. as proof the money is being used to provide for your needs. However, we found out the appointee, whose name is Justin Case, in charge of the trust has been falsifying documents along with your uncle and aunt then taking a portion of the monthly allowance for his troubles. We are guessing that is how your uncle and aunt got away with having you and getting a hold of your money although it is stated in the will they were not to have you. We are also in the process of filing a complaint with his employer as well as the authorities. For instance, documents show you had a king size bed with very expensive bed linens. An expensive watch. Expensive clothes. Braces for your teeth. We know just by the recent police report, their  inventory list, and medical reports from the assault case none of those are true. You slept on a mattress in the garage with clothes where the tags were torn or worn off, certainly  no expensive designer clothes. The watch was found on your aunt's wrist. You do not nor ever had braces on your teeth. "

"Shit, this is a lot to take in". he whispers. He takes a deep, strained breath. "How could this happen? How could they do all those things? What did my parents or I ever do to them? Shit, no wonder they always locked their door and was so adamant I never go in their room! I would see everything they spent my money on. When they were around me they dressed like bums but I guess when I was at school or work they dressed up and went to town, on my dime!" , he is seething now.

I reply, "I'm so sorry. Would you like to take a break?  I hate seeing you get upset over these assholes."

He laughs actually. "No, thanks. I'm ok now. Let's continue."

"Ok, only if you're sure."

Wyatt smiles at me and says, "No, I'm sure. I'm good. Thanks."

"I'm sorry. Some people value money and items above human beings and doing what's right. Some people also have no integrity. You know, doing the right thing even when no one is looking. No one was looking and your own family hurt you. They lied and stole. I'm so sorry. Your family was suppose to love, encourage, guide, and protect you and they did the exact opposite", I comment to him.

"So, what now? Is there any money left for me for when I turn 18yrs old soon to help support myself?" he wonders out loud.

"Well, there appears to be about $125, 340 left. The payments have been frozen thank goodness due to everything that is going on. It appears Mr Case would record the $2,500 monthly payment yet take out more citing "emergency extra expense" needed without explanation which is not suppose to happen often except it did.  He thought that that "emergency extra expense would be sufficient to cover his butt. Unfortunately, this has gone unnoticed.  However, it has been caught and it will not be enough to keep him out of trouble. Please, do not worry about having to support yourself. You can stay here for as long as you want", I inform him.

**Forever sounds good with me.- Shelia coos.

*True

"Thank you Maureen. I appreciate that but I don't want to impose", he whispers, letting all this truly sink in.

"Wyatt, I understand this is a shock and a lot to take in. Please, try not to let it overwhelm you. We can deal with this together. We are taking steps to have Mr. Case, your uncle, and your aunt be held accountable for their actions. We will take it one step at a time, ok", I encourage him while holding his hand and smiling. He lightly squeezes my hand back, smiles and says "Ok, thank you so much Maureen for finding all of this out for me. I would have never known any of this if you had not looked into for me. Thank you. It means a lot knowing my parents loved me so much as to plan that I was taken care of if anything happened to them. They tried so hard but they couldn't have planned on so much greed now could they. I mean, who could anticipate what those people did?!" he pointed out. "Oh, by the way Maureen. What happened to my Grandma Jean?"

"Um, she died about 9 years ago of a heart attack, sorry", I tell him.

"I can't really say I'm sad though Maureen. I mean, she handed me off to horrible people knowing it was against my parents' wishes. I know she knew what was in the will so....", he trails off.

My heart goes out to my amazingly strong mate. I want nothing more than to hug him and reassure him everything is going to be ok. No one will beat him here. He can eat as much as he wants whenever he wants. He will always have a soft bed to sleep in. I will somehow make those who hurt him and stole his money be held accountable even if it is not in the human courts. He is so strong and intelligent. I am elated he is my mate and will do anything to keep him safe and protected. I just hope he feels the same way about me as I do about him. I also hope he can still love me after learning what I am.
