Wyatt POV

I gather my stuff into my backpack and head toward my room to get ready for work. I'm grateful for a distraction though. Maureen has been busy with work and I have not been able to spend much time with her, very little time actually. When I have seen her she seems stressed and tired. I wish there was something, anything I could to help her, to elevate some of her burden.

My birthday is on three days. All I really want is to spend time with her. We don't have to do anything extravagant, just hang out and relax. I'm not sure though with her busy schedule if that will be possible. So, before I forget, again, I stop walking and text her to ask her if she would be able to do something with me Tuesday. I don't tell her it's my birthday, although she may have read it on some paperwork,  so she doesn't feel the need to get me anything. With the text sent, I head off to my room again. I'm anxious for her reply. What if she says no even if her schedule allows and it's because she doesn't want to spend time with me? No, don't jump the gun I remind myself. Just wait for her reply and go from there.

I'm heading down the stairs to meet Adam so I can go to work. I see a group of about four guys walking in my direction on the staircase so I try to get as close to the right side of the wall as possible to give them space. No such luck to go on my merry way. The guys closest to me shoves my left shoulder, hard. He glares at me like it's my fault!

"Watch where you're going runt!", he growls. He growls?! I know I'm not crazy. I really did hear a growl. What the hell?! I rub my shoulder and keep walking down stairs.

"Hey, I'm talking to you runt!"

I see Adam by the door, waiting for me. He looks pissed! He quickly walks toward me but is looking behind me at the guy who had just snapped at me.  "Blaine what do you think you're doing?!", Adam sternly asked the guy behind me.

"He was in the way and should have moved", he replies back like it was the most obvious answer ever.

"No, Blaine. I saw what happened. You four were taking up the entire width of the staircase. It's called being respectful, which apparently is something you need to work on. I will meet you when I get back, understand."

Blaine responds, "Yes, Adam" while shooting me a pissed off stare.

Well, when you live in a place as big as this you're bound to clash with someone although I don't know why Blaine dislikes me. This is the first time I've ever met him!

"You Ok Wyatt?",  Adam inquires.

"Yeah, just ready to get to work. I'm used to jerks like that", I tell him.

"I'm sorry to hear that. You shouldn't have to deal with that crap, not here at least", he says.

"Well, honestly most of the people I've come in contact with here have been really nice. I'm not going to let some guy who wants to stoke his ego by picking on someone upset me. I really enjoy living here", I point out to him.

"I'm glad to hear that. Ok, lets get going so you're not late for work", he says while we walk toward the door.
