Grady (Maureen's Dad) POV
"Dad!" Maureen softly whispers, sounding genuinely surprized and I can't help but laugh.
The look on her face is just too cute. It reminds me of when she was a kid. I know she would give me shit if she heard me call her cute now but that's ok.
"Daddy!!" she cries louder with tears suddenly appearing to stream down her cheeks and I rush to her, embracing my little girl.
She may be an adult and a strong alpha of our pack after I retired yet she will always be my little girl, my little spit fire.
"Daddy, I...I can't believe you're here! I've missed you so much! So much has happened since you guys left to travel! Oh, where's mom and Larkin? Are they ok?..
"Whoa, calm down Maureen. All's good ok. Your mom and brother are here, safe and helping out. Shush.....it's ok. Settle down. It's ok" I calmly keep assuring her as she clings to me like she did when she was young and scared.
It seems like an inner dam broke inside her and she's suddenly releasing all her fear, frustration, stress, anxiety........all of it pouring out and I let her. My precious child cries until she feels the need to stop. I hold her, gingerly patting her back while consoling her that things will work out.
She finally settles down, takes a deep breath, and gently pulls away with a shy look on her beautiful face, all while wiping away the tears.
"I'm .......I'm sorry Dad. I shouldn't have done that especially immediately seeing you after so long. I must of freaked you out" she apologizes.
"Oh no need to say sorry Maureen. I'm a parent. It takes a lot to freak me out. Although I think you freaked your mate out a bit" and we both turn to see Wyatt with an extremely worried expression plastered across his face.
"I'm sorry Wyatt. I don't know what came over me" she truly apologizes.
"I'm ok as long as your alright. You ok sweetie?" he follows up with sincerity.
"Oh from what I've heard there has been a hell of a lot of activity around here while we've been gone. I think you've handled everything very well Maureen. I'm so proud of you. Sometimes you just have to have a release whether it's crying, screams.....target practise. And....this must be...." I slowly drift off, hoping for an introduction.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Dad, this is my mate, Wyatt. Wyatt, this is my Dad and former alpha of our pack, Grady" she proudly introduces us. The smile that graces her lovely face says it all!! She is in love and happy!!!!
"Hello Sir. It's an honor to meet you. You've raised a phenomenal woman and I'm so blessed she is my mate" he truthfully conveys while walking toward me with an extended hand.
I firmly shake his hand while replying "Thank you son. Yes, she is phenomenal, always has been always will be. I have to say her equally amazing mom contributed quite a bit too" while laughing, knowing if my wife ever found out I didn't mention her she would have some choice words for me. If you're reading this on any other platform or by another author than BGRose77 then it has been stolen.
"Yes Sir. I look forward to meeting her as well" he enthusiastically states while smiling.
He seems a bit more relaxed now. He must feel Maureen is settled down enough from crying earlier so he can breath-easy.
"Well, why don't we go into the kitchen and I'll catch you up on what's been going on with us and the pack since we arrived back home?" I question them while I lift my arm toward the kitchen.
