Wyatt POV

*******************

I still hear a steady beep. I guess I'm still hooked up to that annoying device. At least I'm feeling better. My headache is gone and I feel I can actually open my eyes. Slowly, I force my eyes open. The bed I'm laying in is huge, a king size at least. It is so soft, comfortable with a royal blue blanket situated on top of me. I think I smell roses with a hint of strawberry. Maybe there are some in the room somewhere. I turn my head to the left and see the machine that seems to be making that ever present beep. Beyond that are curtains, which are drawn, so there is not much light shining into the room, which I'm grateful. Light after having a horrible headache sucks!

"You're awake! Oh my word I can breath again. How are you feeling?"

Maureen! Maureen is here and just as radiant as ever. I take a deep breath and try to smile at her. She walks over to me, sits beside me on the bed, and holds my hand. "Maureen, thank you for being here. Are you ok? What happened? Also, am I on some good meds or do you feel these sparks in our hands too?", I rapidly ask her, excited to see her.

She smiles at me while placing a hand on my cheek, sending sparks throughout my cheek. What is that? Whatever it is feels amazing. "You were poisoned Wyatt. You are ok now but will need to take it slowing to recover. You are on meds but they have nothing to do with the sparks you feel. You're not crazy either. I feel them too. I promise Wyatt. I will explain everything and answer all of your questions when you are feeling better, stronger ok."

"Why not now Maureen?"

"Do you trust me Wyatt?"

I look straight into her mesmerizing blue eyes and answer, "Yes, Maureen I do trust you."

She releases a breath, which she apparently was holding, smiles, and says, "I promise we will talk about everything. Just when you've regained your strength. Now are you hungry? I can get you some soup."

"Yes, thank you. That actually sounds really good."

Maureen POV

It has been two days since Wyatt woke-up. He is slowly regaining his strength. I'm currently sitting at my desk inside my room, which Wyatt now calls my apartment. Wyatt is resting in my bedroom so I'm getting some work done. At the top of my list, contact and meet with the Brownie Chieftain to discuss how and why a brownie would do this in my house to my mate! I write out the request to meet with him in a week as to give Wyatt more time to rest. That way I feel more secure leaving him for my visit with the Chieftain. I move to the portal access and send the paper. Within ten minutes I have a reply and a scheduled appointment.

********************

This past week has been amazing spending time with Wyatt. We have relaxed while watching movies (Maureen O'Hara mostly), taking walks around my apartment, and me cooking for me while he gathers his strength. For safety reasons  I don't want him to walk around the ground yet so we kept inside.  My meeting with the Brownie Chieftain is tomorrow morning. I really, truly hope the encounter yields some answers. I can't stand the thought of any creature, no matter how big nor small, being able to enter my house and harm anyone in my pack, especially my mate. I am at least more at ease attending the meeting knowing Wyatt's heath has improved. I've been sleeping in the bed with Wyatt during his recovery. It's a huge bed. Besides, nothing besides hand holding and kisses on the cheeks have occurred. Being able to sleep next to him increases his healing while it settles Shelia and I. It is late and Wyatt is already asleep. I told him before bed that I have an important business meeting in the morning and I will be gone when he wakes up so he would be be concerned when I'm not around. I have no idea how long the meeting is going to take. While gazing at my mate's handsome, peaceful face and holding his hand I close my eyes to drift off to sleep.
