Chapter 58-The Forest: Part 2

*****The following events occur during the time Maureen is with Wyatt during his transformation*****

Unknown POV

***Flashback***

I leisurely stroll into the open space I've become acquainted with over our previous meetings. I smile and try to act relaxed.

"About damn time you showed up stupid mutt!!" the all too familiar brownie spits out toward me. 

"I'm not late so keep your panties on Kaleo!" I jokingly reply in hopes of keeping his anger down so we can finish this meeting. I lean against a tree across from him within the clearing, which gives me a quick escape route in case things go south.

I notice Kaleo is standing and looking rather tense unlike our last encounter where he seemed more in control while sitting on the ground. 

Something has certainly changed!!

"Shut up you trashy mutt!! Lets get this over with! I have the information your damn alpha wants. It wasn't easy to deal with that witch again. So it's going to cost!! I don't care who pays." 

"Man, you really need to work on your attitude and name calling. What are you dude, a child?!" I chuckle while shaking my head at his angry antics. He thinks his name calling bothers me but it doesn't. I've been called much worse throughout my life and have learned to brush it off. Do I want to be called names, no but I can't control other beings either. Are those creatures right for calling me names and ostracizing me, no! Did it hurt sometimes, yes. But the sooner I figured out I couldn't fight each and every single person who treated me like shit nor could I control their ridiculous behavior the sooner I would not depend on others for my happiness. 

"Yeah, ok Kaleo. I get it. It wasn't pleasant dealing with the witch. Anyway, I'm sure Alpha Toby will pay your fee, whatever it is. He's made that pretty clear by now. So lay it on me so we can both go our separate ways. Let's be honest Mr. Brownie. You obviously don't like me and you're not exactly my favorite creature either. So..........." hoping to lead him into getting to the point of this encounter with the info I need so I can get the hell out of this goose bump inducing forest!

Kaleo passes  the info Alpha Toby wants, needs from the witch to  me. I take in every detail I can in case I need it later. It can possibly prove useful later on and may just save my life, which I believe is in danger the longer I stay here. 

Something about Kaleo is off. Way off!!

"Is that it? Anything else I need to know?" I curiously ask, just to make sure and cover my bases. Not to mention wanting to get the hell out of dodge asap! But, I need as much info as I can gain in order to protect myself. 

"Well, yes and no. Why do you want to join that alpha's pack?" he suddenly ask me. 

Why the hell does he want to know? He has never cared or wanted to know anything about me before! Ok, play it cool. 

"Oh, you know. The same reason anyone wants to join a pack. No special reason really," I nonchalantly answer, trying to brush it off so I can leave. 

By now, I notice Kaleo is moving away from the tree, trying to move toward me unnoticed but it's not working. I do notice and begin to maneuver about the clearing. 

"Really? No special reason? You mean, it's not because you're a weak, pathetic excuse for a wolf who needs the protection of a pack because you can't do anything on your own?! You couldn't even hack it in the human world so you ran away like a little punk," he viciously barks out.
